Default I'd like your opinion (long..)

OK Well I have been with my boyfriend for just over 6 years. I was young when I met him. Now, I love this guy, and he loves me. We live together and have for about 5 years.

So anyways, he doesn't really care about events. Like Christmas, valentines day, my birthday.. I always go out of my way to do SOMETHING to make things special for him. I don't mean spending the big bucks or anything, but i do SOMETHING. Now this is an on going problem, like every year. For Christmas I got him a cool t-shirt that I knew he would like, and another item which I also knew he would like. He got me nothing.

My birthday was just the other day. He did tell me happy birthday the night before, after midnight. He didn't get me anything though. No card, no anything.

I don't want anyone to get me wrong, I'm not high maintenace. I don't expect expensive gifts and flowers and whatever. I don't even MEAN to care... but it just hurts. Anything would do. Like maybe a card he made or even a note, or a cake, or something. I don't even know. So what happens is I get kind of mopey. I can't really help it I just feel kind of sad/dissapointed. You know? My birthday sucked.

So he tells me today he doesn't know what my problem is. I say well, yesterday was my birthday.. and you didn't even do anything at all. He said something like, "well, what was I supposed to do? I still don't know what the problem is."

So tell me your opinions. Do you guys think I have any right to feel like this? Am I just being a bitch?

There is a time when an addiction becomes to great and a person needs help. Your BF is suffering from such addiction, you need to let him know that you are sick of his being addicted to a video game. If he doesn't do anything about it, leave him. Plain and Simple, if that person puts a video game like WOW in front of a human being then they are seriously addicted.

My sister and brother in law were like that, and he stopped playing and got so tired of her playing he just disconnected her computer and stopped her from playing.

Ok but my question really wasn't regarding the game playing. That was just for some background kind of information.

You cannot be addicted to a video game, thats the most retarded thing I have ever heard.

Your boyfriend is a dick, figure out what to do.

What can I say to make him understand? WHen I try to talk about it I come off as being selfish or something, and it's like he completely misses the point.

After Christmas we had this discussion and he told me he'd get me something some other time. I tried to explain that it's not about getting something, it's just about feeling like someone gives a damn. Maybe I don't explain it properly...

open up to him, be honest, it's not going to stop happening if he doesnt know. when i date a girl i feel as if communication is one of the most important issues. if she's not feeling good, i wanna know why.

Try maybe taking a break from him. If hes to conceited to see that the game is ruining your relationship with him, just break up with him.

A game has nothing to do with it.

You need to talk to him, or make him realize somehow. Usually it takes a "break" so to speak. Sit him down and have a heart to heart, if he doesn't get it, leave him.

I don't think it's worth breaking up something so big over a stupid birthday?

I feel like I shouldn't feel like this. But I can't help it.

It's obviously something that matters to you, and if you BF cared about you he would notice it. It isn't a matter of simply the birthday, but it's an underlying meaning to it.

Edit: You just need to talk to him, and let him know how you feel.
