I've been trying to date this girl for a few months. I'd known her for a while before, but I later decided to pursue her.

Anyway, I've finally gotten pretty close to her, but every time I try to get her to hang out with me, she comes up with some bullshit about how she already has plans with her friends. To clarify, when she says friends, she's really talking about 5 or fewer friends that she sees EVERY day.

She will NEVER break her regular plans of shooting the breeze with them to see me alone. Sometimes she'll invite me along, sometimes not. I usually won't because I can't fucking stand most of her friends.

I'm starting to think that it's not so much about her attachment to her friends as her distance from me. She's never had a boyfriend, so she's really shy. And I'm fine with her taking time to warm up to me, but I just can't tell if she's interested or not.

I'm tentative to confront her directly about it, so what do you think I should do?

You have to hang out with her friends, and make a good impression.

Been there done that. Best advice either befriend her friends if you really want her. If not shes not really worth your time.

If you're really interested in her, hang out with her despite her friends and try to befriend them too. If you can hang out with her friends and have fun and get their stamp of approval, it'll make the relationship a whole lot easier, since she obviously values their opinions. And a SO that can hang out with your friends is so much better than one that hates them.

Just tell her that you have alot of fun with her but it's hard to focus all your attention on her with all her friends around, so you'd really like to spend some time with her one-on-one. Then ask her when would be best for her, so she can make plans with you and not have to break plans with her friends.
