All great music for being depressed to.

Also his son, Jeff Buckley with Lover You Should Have Come Over.

Search for some emo music. Preferably the not so mainstream ones. Indie bands are great too.

5 for Fighting - 100 years

Jesse McCartney (Or whatever) - She's no you

311 - I will always love you (remake of The Cure's song)

Yes, I know Jesse MC-whatever is a complete fag, and I would never listen to any of his shit, but I think the OP might like it, if he wants to reminisce about a gf or something.

The 311/Cure song is actualy called "love song." But yeah, listen to the Disentegration album by The Cure if you want sad stuff, or if you want a sappy/love/sad song check out "Love Song" by Tesla. Good Stuff

That's got to be the most melancholy song I've ever heard. But it's not just "sad".

"Creep" by Radiohead is another contender, but it's more depressing than sad.

I'm going to put my money on "Everybody Hurts" by REM.

Pained over a break up: Hate Me by Blue October.

Just plain sad: A World So Cold by Mudvayne. This song literally almost made me break down cfying, while going to school one day. Listen to it, and I mean REALLY listen to it. If you have a vivid imagination, and have a really close friend, it'll make you break down (Or close to), or that person isn't that close to you.

Saw them live back in '02 or '03 supporting the Offspring, not a bad bunch, very theatrical, at one point the lead singer climbed up the railings.

Ceremony by New Order. God knows what it's really about, but it sounds as melancholy as hell, and it was written by Ian Curtis, so the odds are good.

Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division. Come on!

So Cold In China by Leo Kottke. Sad, in a sort of good way.

If only we knew what we'd become, We could have ended everything before it begun, for the results were behond anyone could image, a catastophy of emotion, a storm of hate and make up only fit to break and shatter into a million pieces

Once we knew that everything we worked so hard on to be true, we had to admit that only we could corrupt what could happen, we were together until the end but the end was the same as the beginning, me crying on your shoulder and you on my chest...

If only we knew what we'd become, we would have chosen different paths, the end of the of our beginning was the same as we saw, full of hatred and darkness, but deep within we both knew the light would come shining through...

Now as we both know, what we became, and what we went through, we've seen different sides, different people, if only we knew what we could have become? We could have let the light shine through, but we ended just as we began, me on you shoulder and you on my chest, letting the darkness surround Us....
