One of my friends called me the other day, sounding rather distraught, managed to choke out that their parents were getting a divorce and was, rather shook up about it.

I took my mate out to dinner earlier and they said that they were considering throwing their mother (the instigator of the whole thing) on a giant guilt trip over it, becasue apparently she did it so suddenly and almost entirely without reason.

Should I condone this course of action, or what?

Let the family problems be sorted out by the family.

Stay out and you'll stay safe.

Just make sure they find out her motives first. They're not gonna be overly happy if they later find out she left him because he slept around

Don't get involved, it's nothing to do with you.

You sound like a good friend, to care about your mate like that.

But there's nothing you can do, adults will be adults and they'll do what they damn well want to do regardless of what their kids want.



And really, could your friend live with the guilt if he did a guilt trip and your parents decided to stay together for his sake but be really unhappy about it and hate each other?
