Introducing your Relationship
How do you let girls, or guys, know that you're in a relationship?
I just bring it up by mentioning how something reminds me of my girlfriend.

When your girlfriend, or boyfriend, is not around and you want new people, or people that don't know you that well, to realize that you're in a relationship...what do you say?
I do not think asking would be a good way to go.

Re: Introducing your Relationship
If it was with a girl where the others didn't know there was something between us I'd act like the stereotypical smug prick swinging on toes and pointing towards her with my neck saying "she's with me" whilst raising my eyebrows for approval...just for the laughs it would get or give me at least
And if I was out without her I'd make a smartass point of letting everyone know "I'm out from under my missuses thumb tonight"

Re: Introducing your Relationship
Euda, do you mean as in, if you're dating someone who's absent, and someone hits on you, how do you tell that person that you're taken?
Im a bit confused.

Re: Introducing your Relationship
well you can bring up how you recently went to america. whn they ask 'how was it/why did you go?' you can answer with loving tales of your woman and how happy you are with her.

I'm not having problems with telling people.
I'm just curious to see if anybody has any interesting thoughts or suggestions on the subject.

Re: Introducing your Relationship
I've been hit on many times since I was married. Whenever this happens, I make it a point to cough and cover my mouth with my left hand, so the bling bling catches their eye.
However, you're not married (yet), so no ring is available with which to thwart incoming offenders. Either buy one to make a point, or work it into the conversation, as you have already suggested. You're an intelligent chap. You'll think of something.

Re: Introducing your Relationship
yesterday some people asked me, point blank, "do you have a boyfriend?" i of course told them yes. but when the issue of how we met was brought up i was at a loss. i am a terrible liar and don't want to tell people we met on the internet.
until that i hadn't brought it up, because I didn't want to brag and i didn't want to have to explain how we met. if it comes up naturally i will bring it up. i'm not one to randomly scream "i have a boyfriend!!" unless someone's hitting on me, which they never do. (i'm ugly.) but i'm very proud of him and do have an urge to talk about him. i just don't know how to do it without bringing up the whole met-on-the-internet thing or lying.

Eh, so what if you met on the internet? Who cares? If people think its silly, they can go fuck themselves! You're the one with the S.O and they aren't =p Take pride, no matter how you guys met.
I met my GF on the internet(World of Warcraft to be specific), and I'm def not embarrassed to say so. So many people meet on the internet now a days, its rather normal. Maybe to those ignorant idiot types it isn't, but anyone with a bit of logic and some reasoning won't find it stupid.

Re: Introducing your Relationship
My ex used to wear a wedding ring, so people wouldn't even try.
Personally, I wouldn't mention anything until I had to. Theres no rules about having to be single to flirt with someone, but if you sense they think theres more going to happen, then subtly bring up the SO in conversation.

STFU, you're not ugly. I'm sure there are a few flattering aspects about you. (It kinda bugs me when girls refer to themselves as ugly, if you haven't noticed.)
If a girl blatantly starts hitting on me, I'll counter with an "I have a girlfriend." response. Usually though, girls get the point because I usually keep the flirting to a minimum, and I'll so forth.

I guess thats acceptable, better than living with the ridicule and what not. I myself have to keep it low to certain people, but other than that I don't see it as a problem.
GL to you two =)

How we met, without lieing.
I walked over to lauren and complimented her drawing, which is quite nice. From there we talked, went for a drive through New York, went to dinner, and had a tickle fight.

Re: Introducing your Relationship
i mention my boyfriend a lot just by habit. we've done a lot of cool things together so it's just bound to come up in conversation. i've never really had a situation where guys have had to ask me outright if i have a boyfriend. i'm pretty obvious about the fact that i luff him.

I don't see how anyone worth listening to would find it worthless. You get to know people so well when you meet them online.. You can actually talk to to them without worrying how you look or sound or anything silly like that. It is just pure personality. :P

That doesn't sound the least bit amusing. I would suggest not doing that.
Also, first time I have heard Euda speak with a bit of insecurity in his writing.

Awww, that's sweet.
Anyways, if someone's hitting on you, just reply with 'I'm taken.' or 'I have a girlfriend.'

Lauren, I met my husband on the internet. If people are going to be stuck up about it, you can tell them where to stick their pom pom's.

Meh saw it on a movie once...some dude with a chick out of his league. People that know me know I act like that and DID find it funny - so whatever man. It's not necessary for you to try to pick fault with me every time.
Once I walked in with a group of girls I work with...all stunners in the looks department. Anyhow a guy that didn't know me said to a girl I knew "Shit. How lucky is that dude walking in the place with all those girls?" to which the the girl said "How lucky are those girls to be walking in with him"
^^Not really relevant to this thread but I like that story

I don't really say anything unless someone asks. Unless I'm in a situation where a guy is hitting on me, then I'll just slip it into the conversation somehow ("You play hockey? So does my boyfriend!")

It's an Asutralian thing...

I have a rather perculiar relationship with my current partner, so I don't actively bring it up with others.
But for you, casual references? The hickies on your neck? I don't know!
