so, before christmas i was jammin with my best friend, were in a band, and he invites over a chick to come listen to us and chill. so i get to know this chick over a couple weeks and i rly start to dig her. shes amazing, shes cool, nice, and shes amazingly beautiful.

problem is, right when i start to like her, my friend asks her out and now hes dating her. now, naturally, hes my best friend so i give hima dvice about girl stuff and everything, and i knew he liked her this whole time, so i didnt rly say anything about me liking her. and i tried to resist and not fall in love with her but i just cant help it, shes perfect.

and part of me wants them to know, but the other part knows it would make things weird and possibly lose me a friend, more than a friend, hes a fellow band-mate and were real close

i just dunno what to do

if she were perfect, she wouldn't be dating your best friend. i can see A LOT of trouble in the future for you if you even so much as entertain the idea of this crush. if you were to "get" her, the trust in your friendship would be lost forever, not to mention the fact that you would see her for the fickle girl she would be for going out with two best friends. if you didn't "get" her, you'd experience embarassment and jealousy every time you hung out with them. the third option is open competition, which is just silliness, would ruin your friendship, and would result in a shallow relationship at best. there are so many other girls out there. the most i would say is bide your time, but even that's pushing it. leave it alone.

a good idea would be to say something to her along the lines of "you're such a great girl, do you have any friends who are like you for me?" this would alert her to your attraction innocuously and maybe score you some equally cool chicks. try to get her to bring friends over and you may find another great person who ISN'T dating your friend.

Don't let yourself do to him what my best friend did to me... find someone else. Seriously, our group of friends is so fucked up by that... don't do it
