There's a difference between being sworn at, and the word being used in general conversation. The thread implied (at least from how I read it) that it was what words females feel uncomfortable hearing, rather then what they'd be called/verbally abused with.

This threads given me some chuckles. Calling a girl short can make them angry, i remember I made the mistake fo doing that and then they stood up right next to me and stretched upwards to make the point that she was bigger than me (in her heels). As far as flagrant use of profanity, I know few people who do that these days and I pretty much distance myself from people who do. It's probably because of the age group of most of the people I know.
