Feeling the need to kill something...
In the past i have always had a very good temper, not pretty at all when i lose it, but it took alot to piss me off. And even when i was fairly pissed i was able to control all of my emotions, put them away until they could be dealt with, channel them to something useful.
But recently my temper has gotten terrible. It takes very little to set me off, and when I go its almost always to the point where i seek violence. If there is none to be found ill even go so far as to blatantly try to start fights with strangers for no reason. It almost seems as if anything, no matter how small can be a catalyst for my anger.
Its starting to affect my relationships with friends and family. Only a few of my friends are capable of handeling my temper when it goes, and unfortunately they are usually the ones who will have my back and go fighting instead of trying to talk me down from whatever dumb shit i want to start.
My relationship with my family is strained, because what used to be joking between us will now piss me off to no end, to the point where i have to leave or risk taking my anger out on them.
I dont know what to do, but its becoming a real problem. I think i might be lacking some sort of release, because i used to go to concerts and get alot of it out there, hardcore dancing and just generally having a good time. But since i moved away to college i dont have that scene around anymore.
And it seems like more and more im using booze to calm myself, just to take the edge off of things. I know its bad, but it seems to help me cope, and i guess its better to have a few drinks than to kick the shit out of an undeserving person. And i never really drink to excess...
I dont know, any suggestions or thoughts you have would be appreciated.

Its not hard not to be angry. Your not trying to be calm at all you fucktard. If you really want to not be angry then go to a Buddhist or monk temple (preferably the monk temple), and they will teach you to control that shit.

Re: Feeling the need to kill something...
I used to be like that when I was sixteen, and still am to a certain point. If you get physical symptoms before you start to get angry (tightness in your body, clenching your fists or jaw maybe) try to explain that you need to leave the room or whatever and go for a walk or something. In the long run though, do something everyday that you find therapeutic like walking or painting, going for a drive or shooting works for some, hell, when I get really tense I find sex is a great way to relieve it.
With the joking around with your family pissing you off, you'll actually find that it's underlying stresses, say with your friends or school that is causing it. Alternatively your family is just mundane and stupid, but I doubt that.
All in all though I'd say the diagnosis is normal development for the teenage male. You'll either grow out of it or you won't, so work hard at learning to control yourself now, so you can foster harmonious relationships later in life.

Go camping with friends / play an instrument (drums/piano/guitar ect.) / something constructive to take your mind off your problems

Whatever douche bag, just trying to help because I used to be angry. Hippie hunter, do you just hunt them, or do you rape them too? You strike me ass the "gay" type.

Re: Feeling the need to kill something...
I went through a bit of that in my early teens, but i thought i was done with it by now. But in reflection it seems like when i moved i lost alot of my forms of stress relief. I need a new fucking hobby.

Re: Feeling the need to kill something...
I've always been able to control and hide my anger extremely well, so I can't really relate or give any helpful advice. Sorry.

Try to understand that controlling anger is more difficult for some people than it is for others, as with many things. Just because it's very easy for you to control your temper, doesn't mean everyone's like that.
If you think you need some kind of release that you're not getting at the moment, try to take up something that will provide it. Any strenuous physical activity, I'm sure you can think of something you like. And maybe try to see a psychotherapist, this isn't an uncommon problem. It might be that you're frustrated since you've moved, or any one of a number of mental causes.

Take life as a joke, because thats what it is, no point in being wound up to fuck all the time with a temper, that just shows you can't control yourself.

Re: Feeling the need to kill something...
I used to have a GODAWFUL temper. I'd throw shit around if I dropped my fork. That's how bad it was. I started smoking cigarettes. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I don't get that angry anymore. I suggest smoking cigarettes.
Did that paragraph piss you off or annoy you? Then yeah, you've got a problem. You should laugh at my stupidity. You probably expect too much of people. You need to understand that everyone has their faults, no one is perfect, and they all can't meet your demands. Every time you get angry at someone, I want you to think of one good positive quality about that person. Even if it's their shoes. I also want you to think of one bad quality about yourself. This will humble you and remind you that everything can't always go your way.

You must think very little of yourself if you're willing to lose your temper over shoes. Just do what I said.
