I'm finishing up high school, and my girlfriend graduated last year, and is taking a year off. We're almost sure we won't go to the same college or even near, and then we won't date.

But that's a good 6 months away. She just told me that if her mom's job get's killed by downsizing, she would have to move to a different state, and we wouldn't see eachother. We'll find out in about 3 weeks if her mom gets fired.

But either way...it feels like walls are closing in around me. I'm happy right now, and even if I can get another girlfriend when we depart, it's going to be terrible.

What should I do, even if her mom doesn't get fired? How should we end it, slowly, or abruptly?

At the last possible moment. You're going to get hurt either way so why worry ahead of time?
