My friend is making arrangements to meet up with this girl he met online from the ukraine. He's willing to pay for her ticket and marry her(which will allow her to obtain her green card). Anyways, how do you all feel about Mail Order Brides? Do you think it's morally correct?

The concept of mail-order brides is that she gets to change her residency to another, better country.

It's not to do with slavery, just to do with visas and living abroad.

She's not obliged to have sex with you, or love you, or bare you children.

Some mail order marriages work because people within the agencies were open to having proper relationships and found someone to get on with.

My father, whom I haven't talked to in many years did this.

When I was a little kid, maybe 4-5, he was making trips to south america. He was meeting up with a woman in peru. Well, she came here, went crazy a few years later, and then moved to florida.

When I got a little older, 8-9, he was making trips to mexico alot. He met this woman, talked about 2 weeks or so, and then she came here. They have two kids, and i'm 18 now, and they are still together. That bitch from mexico was mean as hell. The meanest of the mean I have ever met in my life. She beat my ass, and broke my nose, and since, I have not seen my father, which was like 3 years ago...

The Ukraine is perfectly acceptable and more common than just "Ukraine."

Some guy from around where I lived got one from southeast asia or somewhere.

That was 15 years ago or something. They are happily married, have a few kids, nice house, etc etc. Seemed to work out fine.
