Default About the ex

When she broke up with me she said she really wanted to be friends and I was hesitant to say ok. I really just don't want to hear that she has someone new. Despite that, I have been making a valid effort to talk to her since. I've tried calling (she won't answer) and emailing (usually doesn't respond, and if she does it's like 5 days later). Today I thought might be different, considering it is a lame holiday and she has nothing else to do.

I tried calling her phone, but no answer. Went to voicemail, so I assumed she was at work. I called her work, but she had "just left" the boss said. So I said all the happy holidays nonsense to him and hung up. Tried her phone again.. and she didn't answer. This time I left a message just saying the usual happy holidays stuff, but in a goofy way like I normally would.

This was at about 1 o'clock and she still hasn't called back or anything.

Is it just time to stop bothering? The only way we will talk is by effort from both of us, but so far it seems all one-sided. I have only called 4 times total in the past month and I've emailed roughly 6 times. It's not as though I am smothering her or anything..

I don't know.

What is the point of asking to be friends if you really don't want to be friends?

"We should stay friends" usually means "Fuck off, but if we meet on the street I'll smile at you and we shouldn't let our break up damage other mutual friend's relationships with either of us.

I think it's pretty clear that she no longer wants to be involved with you on any level, she doesn't want to be friends. That's just a typical bullshit way to break up with someone...they think they're "letting you down easy" or some shit, when in reality they're just lying straight to your face while at the same time minimizing the guilt they feel about breaking up with you. Pretty selfish, manipulative tactic if you ask me.

So, to answer your question: yes, it's over, it's time to move on.

Women often like to appear so nice an friendly.

So? She's treating you like malaria? Her true feelings show....

Unless she's gone away for the holidays? Most folks don't much care for their Ex's. Heck some folks don't even much care for their kids when they divorce & move away.

That's kind of what I figured. Fortunately, we don't really have any mutual friends considering we live 300 miles away now. Same for seeing each other on the street.. it just won't happen.

Alright, so yeah, I give up on it. It's not worth my effort if she's going to be shady.
