Man code.
When two guys like the same girl, how do you deal with that?
Especially if one of the boys is crazy, and she likes the one that isn't crazy.
In short, boy makes big deal about telling girl he likes her. Girl confesses the feeling is mutual. He makes comments about how he is breaking man code, then completely stops acting like he likes her. She may have also said things that seemed like she didn't like him, and although she told him she likes him she did not say this directly.
Is this "man code" he is breaking enough to deter him, or is he just being either insecure or just being a little boy about it?
And do, please explain various other points of your individual "man codes."

I don't understand this 'man-code'. What's the relationship between these guys? And go for him, what do you have to lose.

We have a secret ancient book filled with mystic runes, which is known as "the man code". We religiously follow the codes, signals and secret handshakes enscribed in it without fail. Now you know.

I think it's not so much a "man code" as much as not wanting to piss off the other guy.
Uh, actually *flips through secret manual* yeah, it is - if you get with a guy that wants you less, it's like an insult to the other.

Re: Man code.
from what i get, it has nothing to do with mancode, but the girl being WAY to vage, and him givin up cause of that. Men are simple thinkers. They have no use for maybe i like you maybe i don't, but i do but i hide it.
So it has nothing to do with da code, just with the female being vague
If you want a man to take out the garbage, you don't ask him to take out the garbage, that's way to vague, that could be any time. You ask him to take it out NOW. So the issue really isn't any code. The issue is how men and females work. But i could be wrong.

Re: Man code.
Priorities.
...and to a certain extent, balls.
Assuming these males are friends, it could be because one friend doesn't want to piss the other off by chasing the girl he is interested in. If this is the case, however, it is rare it will work both ways.
It could also be that he isnt interested enough in the girl to go through the hassle of pissing his mate off.
Theres then the possibility that he's scared of his mate, and although he really likes the girl he's scared of what the reaction will be when he chases her no matter what his friend thinks.
Theres no unwritten law that says when two friends like the same girl, they both back down... speaking from experience.

Re: Man code.
i think in this case the man code refers to "first dibs"
man code 287 states, the man that calls first dibs on the selected woman is the only one that can act (i.e. relationship advancing). The other men will need to wait until he fucks up beyond repair or they get the OK.
breaking this code means breaking the code of all codes, CODE 101 - bros before hos.

Agreed. Further, it would violate the "Jolly Sailor Statute". As a man, you're a shark in a sea. There are many fish called "women". If an angler hooks a fish, it is his to fight.
This is where the first dibs comes in.

What the hell is that?!?!?!?!
Its just an unspoken rule that men use to check out women. Me and my boss do it all day.
How do the two boys know each other? the original post is very vague.

Re: Man code.
Tell your friend that any bloke who talks about crap like 'man code' or 'bros before ho's' is really a little boy and not worth dating.
When I met the 'trouble 'n strife' there were 3 boys who felt they had prior 'dibs'.
More fool them.
Only one of them had to be violently discouraged.(although it was embarassing as I didn't have a knife to my name at that time and had to go next door to the neighbour, who was a chef, and borrow one before said 'bf' came round to press his suit)

Re: Man code.
I read this twice.
First time I read it, I thought he was a good guy. He knows that his friend has feelings for you and doesn't want to twist the knife.
Then I thought about it for a second, the fact that he made a big deal about having feelings for you negates that completely.
He's being an idiot. Talk to him about it, in a non-calling him him an idiot type of way.

Euda, somethings in life were made to be solved by two friends beating the snot out of each other.
This is one of them.
And Jill, just pick a bloody good man, and stick with him. Seriously, this isn't too hard, is it?
"Man code" exists only in the mind of men that care more about others than they do for themselves. And a real man wouldn't dream of that.

Re: Man code.
I think this code should be instilled (for guys and girls):
If friend one likes new guy/girl, friend one gets his/her chance to do something about it. If friend one crashes and burns, friend two has the chance to go after said guy/girl.
The only time when there should be total hands off is with serious ex-boyfriends or -girlfriends, or if friend one states that it would make him/her die inside to see friend two hitting on his/her crush.
There are exceptions to these rules of course, but if you have no feeling for the crazy one, it's not your fault, and it's not the other guy's fault either. If his friend was really his good friend, he'd be happy for him and allow him to try with you. And if he's not that good a friend to step aside like that, then it doesn't matter what he does.

Hahaha, that's a mimic of the girl who I'm with.
There is no code. Love is love. You are supposed to love your friends, but if this girl is interfering you have to ask; How much does this friend mean to me? How has he helped through my life, does he teach my values and help me grow and mature, or does he just chill with me, get high and crach retarded jokes.
Then you look at the girl, you have to know more about her. You have to realize you're changing your social life COMPLETELY with this factor. Think about it, will this girl last? How serious is this? Do I just wanna fuck her?
If this girl goes around a lot I'd say NEVER. but if she seems pretty serious, take a chance. I did. I'm still with her. 2 years and 3 months. We're still happy. I'm proposing to her after my last semester of college (my current one)

Lies Gus, I disagree with you on this one. Sure go ahead and steal the girl but I think fire pussy 4759293838489589 said that they were friends, and there is no mancode but there is a code of friendship. No man should steal a girl the best friend has shown prior interest in unless he gives explicit permission and the friend knows that is the true feelings of that man.

I think it shoould be the code of friendship, and should apply to everyone. Do you really want to steal a girl from someone who is willing to take a baseball bat to the head for you? It's just not something you do to a real freind.

How is he being a little boy? jakketech says he isn't worth dating, but this is also the man that says only 13 year old virgins use the 1 - 10 rating system.
Which evidently isn't true. The code is there for a reason, it is a boundary to follow, not something set in stone.
If he wants to proceed to fuck you knowing that his friend likes you as well (You probably fucked with his mind too, and if my accusations of you are correct, probably sucked his dick as well), he won't pursue you.
The latter is best for him, since only fucking you would be worth any real enjoyment. Having to be with you is another story. So in short, prepare yourself for drama if you keep fucking around with friends.

Uh, pardon me sailor, but what the hell do you think anyone goes into a relationship for? In fact, why do you think we EVEN HAVE RELATIONSHIPS?
While it might not be on the front of your mind, sinking your cock deep into a girl's cunt and filling her up with your baby seed is what your body wants you to do. Then after a bit, you'll want to leave that girl and go and find another.
The NEED to breed is there, in every person. No matter how much you might not understand it is, it's still there. Denying it just gives it strength.

Oh yes, that's the biological, animal in the back of your mind, but let's be honest, you don't get with a girl because you want to have a kid with her. We have self control. Animals do not.

Self-control and insticts are completely different things. Why, really, do you get with a girl? Because you "like" her? Because you want sex? Because...? Well?
Every reason you could tell me boils down to your body trying to make babies. Really, if it WASN'T about making babies, then no one would be making any at all.
So tell me, why do YOU get with a girl?

Re: Man code.
I talked to him tonight.
Him and his friend told me a lovely tale about how he (the one I like) had this girlfriend who had sex with his best friend.
And so he likes me, but he can't do anything about it because this other friend likes me. He knows what it's like so he won't screw over a friend. Even if the guy wasn't unstable (and he has good reason to be, I'd post why but real life friends post here. I'd like to talk to them in person about it before I put it on the internet), the crazy one called "dibs" on me first, so the not crazy one was pissed but thinks it's fair.
But... he kissed me tonight.
(Carbon, I've hardly hung out with the other guy, let alone led him on)
Edit: It wasn't even like I kissed him and he kissed back, and we didn't make out or anything, he just kissed me and it was SO cute and I'm acting like a middle schooler but I'm so happyyyyy. It was so cute.

Yo, hypothetically, lets say you have a brother. He finds a wonderful girl, starts a relationship with her and starts a great life together with her. You get fired, lose your appartment, and move in with your bro for a few weeks. His wife doesn't work, so you two spend all day talking. You develope feelings for her. Would you fuck her? Your brothers girlfriend? Would you take a crack at her?
If you said yes, you're a scumbag.
If you said no, then realise some people see their friends as brothers/sisters. Some people don't HAVE brothers or sisters, or those siblings don't act the way they should, and people replace them with friends.
Just something to think about before you go swinging some generalisations around.

I wouldn't be in that situation in the first place. First off, it's no where near similar to the one at hand. In fact, only a fucking twit would think it was similar.
First off, my brother and his girl have, as you said "a great life together". You also referenced her as "His wife". Then, you go on to say that I've lost my job, my home, and I am, for some reason, staying home doing nothing?
Really now, I'd be out on my fucking two feet applying for jobs left and right. She'd be lucky if she caught a glimpse of me before I came home. And yeah, it isn't fun. I've had to do it before. But I got a job within a few days. Thankfully though, I didn't lose my home.
Now though, aside for your obvious flaw in that regard, it has NOTHING to do with the situation at hand. They are friend, she hasn't been with the fucking nut bag AT ALL (she doesn't even LIKE the guy, I'd say). They aren't sharing living space, and really now, this is just fucking ridicules.
Your "argument" fucking failed before you even posted it. How about you just give the fuck up trying to make sense, ok?

Yeah, no shit? That some people worry far too much about other people than they do about themselves? That it's the reason so much of this world is fucked up, because people pretend to care for everyone else while not paying attention to what's really important?
You know, how about you take a really good look at the first post, and then read your absurd story again.
And then, maybe you should try and wonder what the fuck got into you that made you make such a fucking idiotic post.
Just something to think about before you go around spouting your annoying bullshit.

I've been trying to get that new bloody Aussie chick to crack up, but really, she's already too much of a nut I think to crack that shell.
So hey, thanks man. I can sleep happy now.

Yes, you are correct that friends come and go, girls don't last, all of that. Your problem, though, is that you're thinking from a RATIONAL male mindset.
Now see, son, FireKitty isn't rational, nor male. And her friends aren't rational either.
That's your problem. And really, I can't do anything to help you with that if you don't want to deal with the context of the thread in, just that, the context.
That's why you hypothetical fails badly. If you want to compare oranges to planets, how about you go do it somewhere else? Try the food forum, I never go in there anyways.

Yeah sure, how about this, though: I just laugh at you because you're silly? I mean, really now, you're just so worked up over something so stupid as your lack of love.

Re: Man code.
My view on man code: It is bullshit, but there is some truth to it.
It's based upon a general respect for other men - it's not supposed to be reverence nor submission, but treating as an equal. Platonic love is the code of men - if you and a good friend meet a girl, and he begins to make a pass at her, you let him run with it. If you started at it first, he lets you run with. It's nothing but unspoken respect for your comrades.
Furthermore, you do not steal girlfriends, nor make passes at girlfriends, nor anything of that nature - it's entirely disrespectful.
My 'man code' ends when a relationship, whether it be flirting, talking, dating, or marriage, has ended. I'd expect the same from a close friend.

For awhile I was irritated with him for not pushing for anything.
And to be fair, he told me that his friend liked me, and established that I don't like the friend, before he told me he likes me.
I would rather be careful and wait things out if I were in his situation. I wouldn't want to risk a friendship for a guy. I've done that before, not even worth it.
And, Gus, once school starts again there won't be so much partying.

Re: Man code.
Men are retarded. The one good thing about them is that they don't hold grudges like women do, that's generally where the genders differ. Just choose one and go for it, repercussions can always be mended but a waste of time is a waste of time and waiting around for results is definately a waste of time.

Please, enlighten me as to how an entire gender is automatically retarded based upon having a penis, testicles, and testosterone rather than a vagina, ovaries, and estrogen?
As far as I can see, my equipment is the only common denominator with all other men.

I'm exaggerating of course as a generalisation. It's more the psyche that deterrs the gender's differences. Men are proven to act upon their urges more than women do.

Which urges? Sexual? Hunger? Rage? Sleep? Bowel movements and urination?
And when you've answered this: evidence please.

Basically all urges. If it wasn't 3am, I'd find you evidence but right now all I wanna do is write quick one liners to pass the time.
Edit: I found an article or something from when I was researching for my paper.
quote:When a man catches sight of a beautiful woman, he loses his ability to make good decisions and focus on the task at hand, according to a new study from The University of Leuven in Belgium. Men who have the highest amount of natural testosterone are the most vulnerable to a woman's sexual cues, reports the BBC News.

There is no "man code"- that's chick shit.
However, there is "Man Law":
1. Bro's before Hoe's- Man Law
2. Hoe's in diffrent area codes, not cheating. Man law.
3. Always kiss and tell. Man law.
4. Double or nothing is how we roll. Man law.
5. Don't hit-it and quit-it. Man law.
6. Ugly? Paper bag. Man Law.
7. Rolls? Grab on and hang on. Man law.

Re: Man code.
Then I pose the question: Do all men have the same level of testosterone? Is the descriptive 'men' even reflective of the 3.5 billion penis-equipped humans in existence? Are you really trying to say that there is any trait that innately propogates amongst those with cocks than with those with vaginas - or are you mistaking social influences that are rather incalculable as part of the innate qualities of testosterone?
I could say women are submissive and less suited to the work force, citing the history of forced gender roles as evidence of their submission, and the prevalance of a weak body build as evidence of the uselessness of women in the work force - but that would be ignorant lumping of individuals into a narrowly defined and entirely inaccurate group, wouldn't it?

Re: Man code.
It's kind of complex since we don't have antlers.
I remember bargaining with my friends for girls in middle school. If two guys liked the same girl, we would negotiate to find another girl for one of them, and they had to agree.
But this is the real world now, and it's the girl's decision. If it ruins the guys' friendship, then that's their problem for pursuing the girl in the first place. Honestly, women aren't commodities that men can bargain for.

Hex, I could care less for what you demean about women. That was only one article, there's a total of 30 I used for my paper which I'm not willing to dig up. You asked for evidence and I delivered, I could care less about defending the female gender.

And I can dig up just as many that support Nazi supremacy through military tactics and social cohesion: collective thinking is a mark of faltered logic. It's the soundness of the evidence that I am concerned with. Linking high levels of testosterone to distractibility is a rather lame and retarded attempt at showing a compulsive streak amongst men towards any obsession - especially when one takes into consideration that this category 'men' doesn't really exist, but is a shit-sad collective of individuals who are entirely capable of ignoring distractions if they so choose.
No individual is any more or less susceptible to any damned choice - some will accept shitty choices out of apathy, or even internalized lethargy, but nothing more. This is as true for a man as it is a woman.
Whether or not the evidence shows more men choose to allow compulsive behavior does not change the reality that these are individual humans making a shitty decision on a case by case basis; this is not a portion of some large entity called 'men' deciding some status qou that negates the individual, nor the individual's responsibility for one's own actions.
Men are not more likely to act on compulsions, although more individuals within the male gender allow themselves to be compulsive than in the female gender.
I don't know what extent to which you've examined herd mentality and individualism, so if you didn't grasp that, that's cool - I'm open to discussing this further if you feel like stopping by Humanities.

There isn't anything to defend, really... Hehe, walking baby factories with the only use of being pleasure objects to the right men.
Seriously though, now, it always makes me fucking laugh my ass off with those try-hard woman that think just because they have a nice rack and a decent ass they can do whatever they want.
