Why is tanning considered sexy?

Hmmm... good question. You know, in the olden days, a tanned women was considered one of the under-classes; you know, them who work in the fields.

Of course, if a woman is tanned properly [none of that shit out of a can bollocks], I think it looks fresh and healthy; like they've been out in the sun and enjoyed the nice weather... or something like that???

The thing is, honestly would you rather be fucking a pale ghost or a tanned woman who's darker tone highlights some of her ASSets

I hate tanning though, I always think of Final Destination 3 and get really anxious.

Actually, more accurately...I hate chicks who tan. if they're darker naturally that's cool, but the sheer stupidity of tanning is a turn off.

If i dont go to the sunbed every so often it fades within a month or so and im white like a china doll again...

A few hundred years ago, tanned skin wasn't sexy - pale skin was.

Because back then if you had a suntan it meant you were poor and had to work in the fields. The aristocracy prided themselves on the paleness of their skin, because it proved that they were wealthy enough to spend all their time indoors.

They even took arsenic to make their skin as pale as possible. Fucking idiots! Then again god knows what fake suntan is really doing to the body of anyone who puts it on, probably just as bad lol.

It really does depend. A natural tan is just as sexy as natural paleness. They can both be marvelous, as long as it's natural.

I don't mind a natural tan... but when you see a girl glowing orange from her tan... I think it's gross.

I wish more people would reject the notion that tanned skin is some how sexier. I think the natural tan that people get over the summer looks okay, but I think it's retarded when people bake themselves all year on purpose. Skin cancer, anyone?

I'm blindingly pale (my skin literally does not tan, ever), and it's never stopped me from getting hot guys so...meh.

Arsenic isn't really all that dangerous if taken correctly. Many important people took it back then for both the pleasure that could be derived for it, and to build up somewhat of a immunancy to its effects as a poison.

Tanned skin is a sign of being healthy and fit....as in people who don't sit around their computers all day long.

Luckily, I have a natural cream bronze complection so this doesn't apply to me. Damn straight, bitch.

I hate the idea of tanning, possibly because I just DON'T tan, espeically because I live under the ozone hole - we just go as red as tomatos here!

It's funny how most of the stuff said here is the exact opposite of the real world. I and everyone I know think a tan is definitely better looking than pale. Pale skin generally turns me off a girl. I'm naturally really tanned and i get complimented on it all the time plus I don't get sunburned nearly as easily.

I have to agree though that those orange fake tans look bad.

It was Coco Chanel who started the fashion for a suntan, in the '20s. She got a tan while holidaying on a yacht, and then--as people are wont--everybody followed the fashionable person.

I agree. I love to tan in Brazilian or thong bathsuits because the outline is super hot.

But tanning has its darkside...there's a balance that must be maintained (Kinda like the Force) It can't be a red, ruddy tan...and you can't be to dark either. Golden beige, or bronze colors work best.
