What, you expect us to give you a subject to talk on? Chit chat doesn't come from a script - it comes from events around your everyday lives, and conversation steams from there.

I wouldn't consider a relationship to be healthy if you can hold/make a conversation with the person you're involved with.

And hell, you still have akward silences? I often base how comfortable I am with a person on if we can have a silent moment without it being weird.

tell her things that have pissed you off that day, tell her things that have made you happy that day.

Your feelings towards her. Have sex.

You dont need to 'fill' the silence all the time.

enjoy the silence, enjoy just being in each others company! snuggle up and listen to music, just relax!

If you two really love each other you dont need to use words to enjoy each other and not be bored...

That is so true. With my girlfriend we can sit not speaking and it is the most relaxing thing in my life, more so than any drug.

like kate said, accept the silence. if you accept it and relax for a long time, eventually your thoughts will begin to flow naturally again, at which point your can verbalize them. conversation flows best when there's no pressure.

Why the fuck does the silence have to be awkward?

I fucking hate this about people these days.

If you're not talking nonstop then you're fucking 'weird' and 'awkward'

I talk less to my best friend than the people i just hang out with, yet I feel closer to him.

If you can't just sit and be quiet with a person and be comfortable then you two have nothing to do with each other.

Talk about shit that has happened to you that week. Ask her about her weekend and when she tells you, you have to go deep into that subject and keep plucking as many words out of her as you can. Lean forward and make a lot of eye contact. I know that part doesn't seem like it has anything to do with conversing but believe me, it has a lot more than you think.

Eye contact can help you avoid awkward silences. Just try it. I think it's something like 80% of the conversation is not even interpreted through words, but through bodily signals and vibes and that shit.

You just gotta relax man. Let shit flow. Ask her what SHE wants to do. Ask her what SHE'S thinking.

You can just sit with a person and be comfortable.
