Love fades.
I've been thinking and this is my question: do any couples who stay married love each other when they're old with the same commitment as when they were young? What if in fact love fades and eventually you become nothing but friends with fucking privileges, or not even that even. Do most couples stick together out of habit and reliance, hence why an old person generally dies shortly after their partner did? Not because they loved them still, but because they've gotten into a habit, a routine, and old people cannot handle change.
And what's the point of love anyways? It's always going to end in heartbreak. Even if you do stay married for life, one has to die before the other, leaving them heartbroken.
Honestly, is there any point in love?

I know what you mean, I guess it makes life interesting though.

Re: Love fades.
I've solved this dilemma. I'm going to be immortal... and eternally young, along with my partner.

Re: Love fades.
my parents still love each other. it's obvious they do. also, today i was at a restaurant and i saw a much older couple, husband and wife. the guy seemed very proud of his wife and like he was being romantic by taking her out. it was cute how happy they looked. i think they still love each other. there are instances in which people become best friends and bring each other joy for decades. as for the sexual aspect, well, i imagine that it becomes familiar. but like with masturbation, familiarity doesn't necessarily take the pleasure out of it.
