I was in the Navy for 4 years, and I can assure you, rape is alive and well in this country. Any woman bringing up charges against a man in the military for either rape or sexual harassment is promptly shunned and rumors are spread about her sexual promiscuity. There are stories similar to this in the civilian sector, as well. Police departments, hospitals...it is difficult to get people to do something about it when you've been raped or sexually harassed.

I dont know how long ago you were in the Navy, but nowadays, its very much the opposite. I suppose its part of the whole kinder, gentler, more professional navy thing.

I got out in 2001, and I still have friends that are in (females). I can assure you, sexual harassment, rape, and hazing of women who alert the upper chain of command of these behaviors is alive and well.

Perhaps you've been lucky, and you have a decent command. I was stationed in 3 different places, and it was always the same.

I've known a few women who were raped. I've actualy known quite a few, but there's really only two that I'm all that close to.

With both of them, it's something that they don't generaly advertise, but if the subject comes up they aren't that adverse to at least mentioning it. Both of them are kinda batty, and the both of them admit that it's patialy because of what happened to them as kids.

I've known approximately 100 girls who've either been raped, had a miscarriage/abortion, or were molested. Or some combination of the 3. They always love to tell anyone that will listen to, whereas I would think they'd rather not talk about such traumatic events.

when I was younger, well I was 13, my best friend was raped in front of me...

it was around midnite and we were at the local park.

Exactly. Some drunk chick is horny, pics a random and then screams rape in the morning. It happened to a friend of mine. He was at a party and started hanging out with this girl all night. She was drunk and so was he. People watched them leave together, on their own will, and the next morning she played the rape card. He had to go to court and everything, but got off.
