Default The People In Your Life

So at my school, a kid brought an Ak 47 in today. He asked a girl out, and when she said no, he pulled it out fired shots, and eventually killed himself. Sounds like the girl was his last ditch attempt at someone caring. Without love and someone in your life to comfort you, I guess you are pushed to some pretty nasty feelings. Its sad that he thought he had no other alternative but to kill himself.

What would your life be like without the people you love?

Yeah, Lauren is right.

...but I would probably not care if I didn't have anyone in my life, well I would be sad, but not kill myself. I am more important than any other fucker on the face of this planet.

I think that if he were wearing clothing that could hide an AK-47, then we'd have our answer as to why no one cared about him.

Why an AK-47?

It seems rather unamerican. Doesn't Ford make a gun?

That's a rather strong reaction to a perception. Why? Life doesn't end with a relationshop.

What does it matter if it's true or not? This thread has potential.

Without my daughter and girlfriend, I too would commit suicide; of that I'm certain.

wow, ok, so this isn't bullshit.

this kid was already suicidal. he used the rejection as an excuse.

if you're feeling shocked that's ok and normal. even if you didn't know the kid, it's pretty disconcerting.

Typical bloody American teenager. No sense of what is fitting and proper.

This kind of thing just cries out for a long hand written letter and a noose.

*shakes head *

That's horrible. I hate hearing about things like this. Especially when it has to do with teens. He obviously didn't have a comforting home enviornment, unfortunate.

Without the people I love in my life I would probably do the same. They mean so much to me and I wouldn't be the person I am today without them. I'm thankful for every day I wake up to see them and know that I have people that care.

I've considered for a long time, opening a home for the less fortunate kids, as such. I've already had a friend of mine, and a lot of my brother's friends live with us for domestic reasons. We're used to the whole ordeal. It gives me the best feeling inside knowing that I have the power to help people, and knowing that I've helped them to smile.

Doesn't everyone feel suicidal from time to time? I think a lot of people do, but it's just a really hard thing to speak up about.

54% of college students have contemplated it, and 10% have made some sort of attempt. but only 7.5 out of every 100,000 college students actually die from suicide per year. (patrick meehan, m.d. et. al. “Attempted Suicide Among Young Adults: Progress Toward a Meaningful Estimate of Prevalence.” American Journal of Psychiatry 149 (1992): 41.)

also, contrary to popular belief, there is evidence that talking about suicide actually increases suicidal behavior within a community. (Gould, Madelyn S., PhD, MPH and Rachel A. Kramer, ScD. “Youth Suicide Prevention.” Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior 31Suppl (2001): 6-31.)

Whenever there is a reported suicide there are usually a whole spree of copycat suicides that follow, this happened when a certain german novel was published, the young love rin it when rejected by the woman shoots himself....all across Germany young men were shooting themselves when their love was unrequited...kinda sad.

Anywho, i think it was a little extreme, i mean he is in school isnt he? the rest of your life ahead of you to worry about relationships and finding love and happiness in life....and he ends it at such a young age.

On topic much? Seems like a solid mentionable for an essay.

This is a tragedy, hopefully people have the support they require.

An AK is a rather odd firearm to use for this. I guess he just wanted to be dramatic.
