Pretty much every girl I talk to asks sooner or later(most when they've just met me) to see my phone. Some will put their number in without asking, which I dont mind, but then they and all others go digging through the phone, checking out my music, my pictures, text messages, who's in my address book, whatever. I mean, I dont really have anything to hide, but I dont ask to dig through their phone, which would be like digging through their purse(many also ask to see my wallet)

How do I avoid this without being a dick about it? I mean, i dont care that they leave their number there, but if it means them going through my shit then I'd rather ask for their number.

I personally wouldn't care if a chick did go through my phone though. I've got nothing to hide there.

If she went through my closet or my computer though, then there would be some intervention.

LOL, that was poor wording.They dont just ask randomly for it. If for some reason I have to pull my wallet out, like to pay for food or get my student ID, once it's in their eyesight they get curious I guess.

I don't think that's normal. Maybe it really is the kind of girls you're hanging out with. I have known some chicks that were REALLY nosy. I've even had some friends date girls like that. Fuck it got annoying sometimes. They'd usually turn out to be really manipulative and controlling too.

If someone asked to look through my cel phone, I'd be like "HELL NO!" Not like there's anything weird on there or anything, but it's kinda like having someone ask to look through your brain. It's intrusive and weird. I don't mind if people look through my purse, the "eeww tampons!!!" reaction is always entertaining, but the phone... noone touches the phone.

I have my shit on lock with a password you have to enter if you have not used to phone for over a few minutes. It's a bitch when you're fucked up and trying to enter the 4 digit password but a lot of people involved with certain substances could get in some shit if their texts were read so nobody ever touches my fucking phone.

I dont care if people go through my phone, I find it to be a little intrusive if they go through my messages (For the record I dont care if my girl goes through if ). But, there's just a certain point where people should recognise privacy (i.e. messages and occasionally pictures)

if you really have nothing to hide then just let them go throught it i dont see what the big deal is

Looking through someones phone is a quick way to learn a bit about them without being REALLY nosey, it's alot less personal or intrusive as rummaging in a persons bag or something.

It's no weirder than a guy looking through a woman's underwear drawer or laundry hamper? Just the natural finding out.

it's a combination of the following reasons:

1. boredom

2. insecurity (needing to look like they're engaged in something)

3. testing you (to see if you'll get nervous and grab it away)

4. investigating (how many other girls you have in your phone, and what your nicknames for them are)

my thinking of this is they'd like to see if you happen to talk to anyone else they know, if you still talk to an ex girlfriend, shit like that

girls do the same thing to me too, its annoying. I have no problem with letting them play with my phone for a bit but i wish they wouldnt go through my more personal stuff. The worst part is I always let them anyway because I dont want to look like an ass for refusing to let them see my phone.

Meh, for a lot of women the phone is their social line. They tend to have this naive perception that everybody else is the same way as them, by checking your phone they expect to find 'evidence'. It's really quite pathetic.

By taking your phone that's displaying confidence, which most men like. Then they search through your numbers, trying to make themselves feel comfortable with you enough to go in for the kill, perhaps looking through numbers and your own personal files will make it seem like they're opening up to you. Funny creatures aren't they...I'm rambling.

I don't expect to look through anothers phone, because I don't like them looking through mine.

People don't usually ask to see my phone, so in the odd case that someone does I don't have a problem with it if I know them.

my phone is ancient, and all the messages are so cryptic an egyptologist wouldnt be able to decyper them. i have no problem with chicks looking through my phone.

They shouldn't mind if there is a program on their phone to remotely access it & review all it's files or listen to conversations near it?

They also shouldn't mind cams/mikes placed in every room of their house & inside their vehicles. Nothing to hide means your life is an open book. To any & everyone.

I had an ex that did that a lot, went through ALL of my shit, my computer, whenever I wasn't home, or my bag, whenever I wasn't at school (Didn't have my own phone at the time though.) That got REALLY annoying, as she was a bit of a jealous bitch... And I tend towards all female friends. Bad combination. Especially when your best friend is a girl. Of course, towards the end of the relationship, it got funny when one of my friends sent me a creatively edited picture of my ex. When she went through my computer that time, she got a bit of a shock. Absolutely hilarious.

As a side note though, After we broke up, and I was clearing out the computer she was using, I got bored, and dug through it a little. Found all kinds of stuff I'd rather not have seen. Turns out she was cheating on me the whole time. Not unexpected, or even unknown, but still galling that she would have the nerve to get pissy about my friends, when she was MUCH more with hers. Maybe a guilty conscious is behind some of the searching, when it's taken to extremes?

My bag has some potato chips in it, a DVD, my prescriptions and a molten chocolate bar in it.

People could assume I like food, movies, and take medication from my bag.

and recieve... not usually with dudes though I just look at my friends.

Heck I was even reading my mum's texts the other night. Thankfully there was nothing emotionally scarring.

If some chick asked to see my phone and we werent serious, i would just say no. If she offers me to look through hers, i would still say no, though i wouldn't pass up an opportunity to look ;-)

I too have nothing to hide, it's just one of those things. Thats why i always try to keep names in my phonebook stuff only i would understand. I don't put in the name of where i work, just "work", "home", "sister" "brother" and all my friends are only fist names.

I really don't have this problem, the phone gets used, and put right back in the pocket.. if she trys to take the phone, or asks for it I just say: Aren't we moving a little fast? I thought a girl didn't get jealous about whats in my phone till after we'd done it.

Puts her on the defensive and I'm not handing over a 300 dollar contraption with personal info I may or may not want her knowing. Besides, not giving her my phone to just look through at her whimp is another way of BEING A CHALLEGE. I may be easy and hook up with lots of chicks, but I least make them think they had to work for it.

I hate things like that.. but nobody would do it to my phone, even if I was male and sexy - because my phone isn't even in colour and doesn't have any extra features.
