Default How do you manage?

How do you manage being apart from your partner or 'significant other' for a period of time, whether it is for a long period or a short period. Have you developed a method for this or is it just something you have to face head on? Can you handle it easily? Or is it simply traumatic for you?

This'll probably sound like your typical teenage bitch' about being away from his girl, but I sense ones ability to with-hold being away from their significant other to be equivilant under any circumstance.

And finally, how do you manage conversation with your 'partners' family? As you can can probably tell i'm new to all of this, its just the silent car trips are starting to be a little too...something. At first I just thought it would its just a stage thing, but then I realised that I have no idea on what to talk to them about. Should it be a "Speak when spoken to" situation or alternatively initiate conversation?

Thanks for any input about anything

I deal with seperation in many ways.

Spend time amongst friends, play games, watch films, play guitar...Plenty of things.

As for dealing with her family...Take it from me, be yourself but a nice, polite version!

My girl's parents are Ukrainian and very conservative. They want to be just like the middle class English people. Sent my girl to private school and all that good shit. Expected her to be just like the middle class fucks.

Whereas I come from a shitty part of the city, was state schooled and never went to university.

They took a look at me and immediately classed me as a drug dealing, murderous pimp who was selling their daughter's body for crack!

They seem to like me just fine now once they realised I'm not a bad fella...Just try to talk about things with them and see how they react to certain topics. Good reactions mean talk about them more often!

Deal with it? It just drove me into the realms of feeling crap and lonely. That's about it. Crying helps!
