Well I was just thinking if you have kids, or if you have kids what would be their names...
my fiance and I are into unique names...
My guess for a boy was chevy... Like the truck, and like chevy chase.
What would the names of your son/daughter be?

Female: Ethel, Georgia, Anabella, Eliza.
Male: Constantine, Dmitri, Theodore, Sputnik.
Those are just off the top of my head.. looking down at a newborn child in my arms I might think differently.

I met two people who's names I really love this year, so I'm going to steal their names for my sons:
Grey and Leo (rhymes with llello, lol).
I don't know about girls though. Right now my favourite girls names are Sofia and Fiona. But that will probably change.
Edit- I also like Eva and Irina. I see a trend developing here...Whatever I name my girls, it'll end in 'a', lol.

I feel sorry for all the incoming babies in the world. They are gonna get alot of weird names.
The guy I'm in a serious relationship wants his son to be a Jr so we would do that. Other wise I would name him Mark Link and then if i had another one his name would be Chris Michael
For girl, I would like to have one named Zelda but that prolly won't happen. but otherwise i really don't know. I don't really want a girl.
Actually I don't want kids at all, they are a pain in the ass.

no offense to anyone in this thread, but clearly misspelled names are annoying and can signify a lack of education.
the names i like are due to direct positive associations with certain people bearing those names. therefore, it has little to do with the name itself, really. i tend to like j-names, though. - jason, jeff, james, etc.

Exactly. For example, my name is Gustave. Some other people spell it Gustav, though, while those insane latinos spell it Gustavo. I've even seen it spelt Gustavi.
Really, it's just a name. A rose by any other name...

because it makes shopping and preparing a lot easier. especially with the first born (and i know hardly already has a child) when you have a baby shower. and im sure after you do it with the first it just makes sense to do it after that as well.

Re: baby names
Even if I did name my child unusual things, it might get shortened down, or have a nickname. Considering my name is Florence(not after the city, after the magic roundabout character), which is unusual, and my nickname is Flock (plain weird), I don't really see slightly or rather unusual names in a bad light. I would totally let the child change his or her name if it was too much to handle. But even things like Sputnik(which I might hesitate to call a child of course) could be shortened to Nik, which sounds normal.
I like names from the 20's-30's - nobody uses them, and when all the old ladies die, it will be even less usual. Though there are usually revivals for naming children particular things.
In the end it all comes down to looking at the face of my lovely little baby and finding a name that feels right. *gets broody*

I never found out my daughter's gender before she was born and I didn't find the preparation to be difficult. In fact, I was sure she was a boy the whole time I was pregnant, so it was kind of a shock when my OB exclaimed, "It's a girl!":P

Because there are far too many things that need to be bought in order to prepare for the child's arrival BEFORE they arrive.
I had two girls and a boy. I named them Savannah Grace, Alora Eve, and Daniel Ashton. If I had had another girl, I was considering Olivia, Sophia, or Lily.
I had the honor of naming my nephew: Xelan Mikael.

I can read the ultra sounds too well I guess.. I knew my daughter was a girl by looking at the picture before I even asked. I'd be too afraid I'd look. It would also be nice to prepare our daughter with the sex of the baby as well.

I doubt she'll understand...I mean my sister was almost 6 years old when I was born and she told me she didn't fully understand that my mom was even pregnant!
And I saw one ultrasound when I was pregnant with my daughter and I thought she just looked like a gray wad of gum! I remember I mistook her ass for her face and her leg for the umbilical cord.:P
Heh, it's like I said, I enjoy suspense! And what preparations require you needing to know the gender of the baby? I'm being serious here, because I can't think of any and I've prepared for TWO without knowing what I was having!

I guess setting up a nursery. You know, do you paint it blue or pink, do you get dolls or firetrucks.
The classic dilemma of living in a society with rigid gender roles...
Not so much that as the clothing.. I hate it that people have trouble differentiating between a male and female newborn. I know it's not that big of a deal.. but it really bothers me. I want to know so that there will be no mistake when the baby is born, that it is a boy/girl.

Remember in the good old pre-victorian days, when they used to dress both genders in female frilly clothes when they were infants?

no offense to anyone in this thread, but clearly misspelled names are annoying and can signify a lack of education.
the names i like are due to direct positive associations with certain people bearing those names. therefore, it has little to do with the name itself, really. i tend to like j-names, though. - jason, jeff, james, etc.
omfg my twin's name is Jason (he's here on totse too) and my name is Jeff. Creepy.

My name is Christopher Michael, it's a good name...
Girl-Number one is: Delilah, it's an amazing name. I also love Felicity, I dunno it's different in a good way.
Boys: I like simple old fashioned names like, Jake, Ryan, or Eric.
