Bastard Children
I apologize in advance for not having a link, I heard this on the radio.
Something like 32% of births in the US over the past year have been out of wedlock.
I personaly find that appaling. Not that I beleive in marriage as such, but it does sympalize a long term commitment, and having two parents does help kids keep from being fucked up.

Re: Bastard Children
What are the rates of divorces, though?
Really now, children should be a privilege given to a couple that is stable!
REALLY!

Re: Bastard Children
It kind of gets to me that with a car, you have to take lessons for ages, take a test and pay for the sodding thing on a regular basis, yet people who want a baby (which I'm pretty sure is a bit more fragile than a car) can just go and.. have one!
People should have to prove that they would be good parents for a set amount of time before having one. They should also have to prove that they have the financial means to care for it.

Re: Bastard Children
I agree with Prom, but what is even worse is when you compare the numbers of abortions with the length of the lists of infertile couples.
A pro abortion doctor once told me that he personally found it bitterly ironic and depressing that he'd assisted one woman to abort and then his very next patient would be a couple who were bankrupting themselves with their god knows how many'th course of IVF.

Re: Bastard Children
Let's worry about that after these infertile couples start adopting some of the kids that are living in foster homes right now.
Here in Michigan, 450 teens a year age out of the foster care system having never found a permenant home. On average, half of them end up homeless within 5 years, and a quarter in prison.

I certainly agree with the sentiment and you'll be pleased to know that that wonderful Mr.Blair seems to too.
However straight away you run into a massive problem...as soon as you get beyond the simple physical things like how to change a nappy.
Whose idea of what 'good parenting' is do you meausure by?
My ol man was a fantastic dad IMO but today he would find himself in prison, dna tested, and on the abusers register for life because a couple of times in my childhood I got the end of his belt. And I do mean a couple of times in my whole childhood, each time richly deserved.
I have a crippled kid, a spastic. If we had followed current thinking on how to raise kids then he would be twice as crippled as he
now is. For years we 'abused' him with violence and harsh words. But thanks to that he has a pair of hands that WORK , that he can control to about 97%, that aren't turned inward and fused solid.
Did we damage him emotionally? YES. He has issues that he will spend the next few years of his life working through and I doubt his relationship with his mother will ever be what it should be but he will have a life.
Not having legs that work properly is a handicap but not having working hands as well would have condemned him to a life of total reliance on others.
SO Mr.Blair and your Thought-Police, I openly and proudly admit I 'beat' my cripple son for not holding his hands straight. I reduced him to tears with verbal violence whenever he let his control of his hands relax.

Can't disagree with you there.

Re: Bastard Children
I'm sorry, but would we really want our governments to decide what is best for us?
How's that been working so far?

Ah though, don't we?
Oh wait, no.... Not until the government is run by a computer of my design.

but then how will we ever keep our numbers up even remotely close to those of the illegal immigrants spawning new kids continuously in our country, which they cant afford and go onto welfare to support....you've all heard the rest of the bitch and moan session......
as it is latinos will be the majority in the US within 40-50 years or so at the rates they seem to rise in our population.

Re: Bastard Children
BTW Prom, the title was HIGHLY misleading! How dare you use a word in the correct sense of its meaning??!? I was looking forward to a nice long sunday morning rant about someone elses satanic brood
Oh well, lousy parent that i am, I guess I should go do the 1 1/2 mile walk to the supermarket now, in the driving rain, so my so neglected kiddies can eat today.

Re: Bastard Children
Ketch, I dont doubt that you're a good parent for a minute.
I'm yet again bitching about the cows round here who breed, and breed and breed. And it's all that they do, and they dont even enjoy doing it and they dont like their kids!!
Many a time in the supermarket I've seen some bratty toddler screaming and howling, following it's obese,19 year old mother and her three other children around,
and she'll completely fucking ignore it!
And if she *does* happen to notice that one of her children is in discomfort and is unhappy, she'll roll her eyes and sigh and shout at another of her offspring
"KAYLEIGH!! look after your sister!!"
I've got respect for parents, but no fucking respect for people who breed just for the sake of something to do with their miserable little lives.
By the way, thread starter, you're pretty fucking ignorant if you think that kids who are 'bastards' as you put it are 'fucked up'.
My mum and the person who spawned me never got married, and I have nothing but thanks for the fact that she was never unfortunate enough to be legally tied to the fucker.
And as much as I may bitch about my fuckedupness on totse, IRL I'm actually a decent human being, and not at all fucked up. So fuck you, and get some real fucking facts before you start judging people for daring to do something as obscene has have a kid out of wedlock.

Re: Bastard Children
Yea I kind of disagree about the fucked up kids thing. Now just because someone isn't married and has a kid doesn't mean their won't be two parents or that they WONT Get married. Also I was a bastard kid but ive turned out great and its thanks to the great parents I have. And guess what best part about them not being married was that when they broke up there wasn't a divorce so it wasn't such a big deal.
As far as being a bastard and other bastard kids, id much rather have a bastard with the girl I love then have it in wedlock because then we would know if being together is going to work WITH A kid because having a kid changes stuff. And then eventually get married.
As far as the whole government giving licsences and such for kids how would you propose they would do that? I mean all someone has to do is have sex and bam baby comes. Only way to regulate that would be to give everyone those reversible sterilizations(Vasectomys are reversible), make everyone wear a government regulated chastity belt or if someone gets pregnet and government doesn't find them fit they force an abortion? It just wouldn't work to many rights would be taken away and then even I would have to stand up and revolt against a government that tried to control my little troopers. Now don't get me wrong im ALL for sterilizing some of americas filth in hopes of purifying the gene pool but as I said something like that takes to many freedoms away and we get revolution(id hope no one would be ok with that completly).
And jacketech normally if someone would say how they beat a kid and hurt him emotionally id say its fucked up and they deserve death. BUT in your case I am proud and say you did the damn right thing, I mean thats whats wrong with kids these days. Seriously I mean we shouldnt BEAT all kids but I garuntee if you smacked some of these little ADD fuckers then they wouldn't be ADD no more theyd be DWBK(Damn Well Behaved Kids). I mean some things obviously might not be able to be solved by spanking and yelling such as a REAL mental illness as the child is mentally ill can't change that.
