I was too fucking ashamed to post this earlier today, but why the hell not use the anonymity of the internet?

So as I was walking through the hallway today at school a girl came up behind me:

Girl - Quad-Consonant, I haven't seen you since 7th grade!

Me - Uh, yeah...

Girl - So, whats up?

Me - Uh, nothing...

Girl - Ok then. What classes are you taking?

Me - Uh, hmmm, AP Gov, AP Chem...

Girl - Thats it?

Me - *Mumbles incoherently*

Girl - Do you have any fun classes?

Me - Well, AP Chem is kinda fun.

Girl - AP Chem? I'm struggling in regular Chem right now!

Me - *silence*

*Girl walks away*

Well that was pretty humiliating. She gave me every opportunity to have a nice conversation, but instead I couldn't think of anything to say and ruined it.

The thing is, I don't have this problem at all for boys. I think the difference is with guys you can be an asshole to them and that's accepted but with girls I can't compel myself to do this.

So I ask you totse, what should I have done and how the fuck can I stop being so damned awkward?

Instead of saying UMM and just answering TURN YOUR RESPONES INTO QUESTIONS. Thats the easist way to talk to a girl. Like in 40year old virgin where he talks to the hot book store girl he uses questions the WHOLE FUCKING TIME. Thats a little exagerated but shit is about what you need to do. You should have been "Umm yea its been a while how you been?" "Just taking BLAH BLAH BLAH what about you?" "yea im not taking any fun classes just these boring overacheiving spend to much time on schoolwork classes what about you got any fun classes?" ect ect. Ask questions.

That was some good advice. If I had just read over your post a few minutes before the encounter I would have been in great shape.

asking questions is good, but more importantly you need to focus on jus being comftorable around females..

if you were just relaxed and confident then the convo flows easy. so work on that through experience. really the only thing that can help it is experience. just start spending time around and talking to women so you aren't so goddamn nervous when trying to hold a casual conversation in the hallway man.

and shit man.. her dropping that line about struggling in chem with you in AP, that was an invitation for you to tutor her up on that shit.. you need to go approach her and work the "let's kick it and study chemistry" angle with her to redeem yourself. she would say yes for sure.

Definitely offering help with Chemistry would have been good, but hey! Why don't you use that idea to start a conversation with her in the future? It's the perfect excuse.

Ask her how she has been lately, and mention that if she is still struggling with her Chemistry, you might be free to offer her some help.

Don't worry about your awkwardness/shyness. Just slowly work on being more comfortable in thesse kindsof situations. Try nodding, making eye contact, and smiling when she, or any girl, talks to you. Don't worry so much about what you are saying - it is not nearly as important as your body language and your tone of voice. Just try to relax. Asking questions is very good, but make sure you seem genuinely interested. Try to use her answers to follow on to the next question.
