Thinking about children/child.
Consider me 19 and full of life experiences.
I'm doing course that will lead on to me being a fully qualified Architectural Draftsman within the next 10 years, 6 years even If I took a loan for course payment (Which I probably won't since I hate debt after seeing that shit impact my life growing up >:( Fucking debt, fucking mother, fucking addictions, and most of all FUCKING HORSES!)
Drafting as I will be doing is a career with a lot of openings, many of them very well paying. (though the $150,000 a year jobs have shitty hours, and you're on call)
So consider me also financially secure, well in the future I will be, right about now I'm almost on the streets - and this time streets meaning streets, not just welfare like some periods of my action packed youth. (And I'm still young!)
I have an obsession with cars, and may even end up opening up a business with a mate in the more distant future. Designing, modifying, building, and engineering cars - wild $$$$$$$$ street machines.
So that and other selfish things might be an ENORMOUS hinderance to raising a child.
Thing is here, with this, I really would like a child, and also to be in more serious relationships instead of "you-know-what-i'm-talking-about" ones.
What should I do?
Should I just get some hot bogan slut preggers for a child? :/ I know that's a stupid fucking idea, but I want SOMEONE to carry on my bloodline - and I might not live till i'm 64, maybe not even until i'm 45. After getting my career and housing sorted out (renting for a while probably) "adopt" a single mother and her young child and help her raise the child for a while so she can get her life back together and I can learn valuable skills? And feel goodish about what I'm doing?
Note: If the latter occurs, it will be in all likelyhood one of my younger addict ex girlfriends* from back home, who no doubt will finally forget to abort and end up with child.
*I don't mean to say all my past girlfriends (both long and short term) have been habitual users, I've been in with the whole range from half dead addicts to rich prudes to popular models, just a substantial number have used various substances with or without my introduction.
All in all I stay in contact with some of them, and in better contact with mates and female mates that have only ever been good friends, so I could wait around for somehting to happen and draw back on it.
Solving a problem instead of creating one.
But I don't know!
WHAT THE FUCK SHOULD I DO!?
And why do I worry about this so much?

Re: Thinking about children/child.
^Rambling because I'm frustrated with not knowing what to do.
I'd edit it and just leave the main points, but I haven't because maybe it will help those of you who consider themselves amateur phsycologists to come to some sort of conclusion.
Here's probably the best way to help me out: "At what age did you/will you have your children?"

I've already propagated plants and raised a couple animals with success. And that's all gone fine* - it's not my competancy that i'm worried about mostly - but my timing.
Timing is really what it's all about e.g. "when can I fit in having and raising a kid?"
*With the exception of the odd plant that I neglected via forgetting about it
...and those were drought tolerant plants .
EDIT: Thankyou both for tkaing the time for allowing me to make this cliche'd sentence right here.

Re: Thinking about children/child.
Had my first at age 19.
DOwnside was a lack of maturity on my part, made a lot of mistakes.
On the plus side, I still had the energy of youth (and you need it with kids!)and now they are teenagers I can still 'relate' to them...sorta...kinda.

1. A partial fuck you on behalf of myself and all the girls/women i've been with that weren't trash in your oh so unbiased eyes.
And a partial thank you for making the effort to post, even if it was stating the obvious. Obvious things need to be stated.
2. Yeah, point. A way to get around that? no?

Ehhhhhhhhhhh shit hey, There's probably two of the biggest pro's and con's right there mate, maturity and youth. Jack, thank you very much for your valuable input (being a parent, especially an early one) and shit.
Question: Obviously there were hiccups and shit along the way, but what do you think about your timing? Has it turned out to be a negative or positive experience?
Fuck I hate the way things must be worded in order to make sense.

Re: Thinking about children/child.
Ten years to be a draughtsman? Whatever country you're in is crazy. Starting a business with a friend isn't a good idea. You still have plenty of time to have a child as well, I wouldn't worry about it.

Wasnt' meaning it in a mean way. Just in response to options and things you stated yourself.
And the job, i guess you could get one while in school if you can find one to pay enough to take care of a child.

Re: Thinking about children/child.
I love kids. I would love kids. I think Im just too much of a fuck up to be able to take on that responsibility. That, and im pretty damn sure Im not gonna live to see 35. That'd be fucked up to leave someone like that. i dunno. I might adopt a kid. But I want my own so bad. Sometimes I think I'd be a kickass dad, because I never had a father and I'd do all the things for my kid that I never got. But other times I just dunno...
All I know is before I lay down on my death bed, someone's getting knocked up.

Nah ten years max to be top of the game.

Yeh no worries, I'm being an absolute arrogant cunt anyway.
I like what Caspes's got to say though, that's more or less a great summary of half my concerns.

Re: Thinking about children/child.
I've known you IRL for a few years now Kwinnie, and I can honestly say that as good of a freind you are..You'll have a few years till your ready for kids. Wait till your out of debt, and allready have a good relationship with a stable women before you seriously consider it mate.

Definately a positive overall, infact I think nature wanted us to have kids even earlier. The problem is, as i said, maturity. Being a 'teenager' is a modern invention. I just wish I had got myself together earlier for the kids sake.
But some people do need just a little added incentive to mature..
For me it was waking up in a police cell with the worlds worst hangover and being told I was going away for life for one count of murder, one of attempted murder and armed robbery.
Suddenly, right there, i began to question what sort of father I had been up to that point and i wasn't happy with the answer none neither.
Another plus point is that soon *prays * they'll all have left home and i will still be young enough to do stuff that i want to do

Re: Thinking about children/child.
I had my child when I was 20 and like Jackketch, I was both immature, but energetic.:P
I think having a child was really good for me as a person. It forced me to really try to pull myself together...For her sake if not my own. Much like Jackketch (again!) I looked at myself and thought about the sort of person I was and it made me sad, so I tried to change.
And while having a baby is a big responsibility, it has also been a lot of fun. I mean...People always said I was spoiling her when she was a baby because I held her all of the time, but why wouldn't a woman want to hold her baby? Of course, people also said I was spoiling her because I nursed her until she was 16 months, so...
And my husband and I were very poor when she was first born, but we got through the hard times and now my husband makes pretty decent money. That's the cool thing about rough periods in life...They always get better eventually.
I hope this helped...:P

Re: Thinking about children/child.
I was 16, but bear in mind I was very mature for my age. I came from a big family and my maternal skills were up to par. I was perfectly capable and able to provide for my child and go to school.
I think it all depends on whether or not you are ready for the emotional responsibilities of raising a child.
