in my opinion, if you like her, she asks you out, say yes, cuz...even tho your friend has liked her for longer, if he doesnt do anything about it, and she asks you, then she doesnt like him as much as she likes you, so...go for it?

Dude, if she asks you, just say yes. You shouldn't deny yourself your own life just because he hasn't the guts to live his.

If you say no, and you don't go to the ball with her, he'll either spend another year doing nothing about the situation, or awkwardly ask her and be boring the whole night.

So I understand that you're friends, but as long as you tell him she asked you, he has no right to be angry. Say yes.

Alright call him first and ask him if he would be okay with it, she obviously likes you and not him so hes only hurting himself by continuing his feelings towards her, youre being a bad friend by NOT letting him know imo.
