So over the weekend i had the chance to hook up with a girl who was half black. She was extremely pretty, funny, and if she hadnt had the audacity to pass the fuck out, im 98% certain we would have slept together.

Im fine with it, and i have nothing against interracial relationships, but what do you guys think? Anybody ever been in one? Anything i should expect of be aware of?

I've been in a couple interracial relationships. It's not really a big deal, but it does feel kind of different if you're white and dating a black/Asian/Hispanic person and the majority of their friends are black/Asian/Hispanic because that's generally just not what you're used to. Same with families. But if the two of you are cool with it, you'll be fine.

I've been in several interracial relationships. It's not a big deal. If you're attracted, go for it, but date them for the person they are. Dating or not dating someone for their skin color is simply racist.

Strange thing was that in the 'white' areas of London we never had problem. Even the local offering of wannabe-Hitler Jugend left us in peace...maybe because i tend to look more right wing than they did (there's something about a 6' skinhead in para boots).

The only time i felt uncomfortable was when we went to Brixton (a VERY black area of London).The looks we got from the balcks there...scary.

I don't normally find black girls attractive but with her it didn't even register half the time that she was black. To be frank I had more problem with her being French (the Brits here will understand!).

Yeah, i live a few hours away from her, so it really wouldnt work for a relationship, but i think ill call her when i hit home again. Should at least make for a decent date to dinner and/or a party.

How did you deal with the difference in friends? Did you fit in allright, or did it take some work?

Well in my case all her friends were white and they all thought i was a jerk, which i am, so no real problems there

Im white and Im with a mexican. I havnt had a lot of white people look at me weird, but sometimes other mexicans stare at us. We just ignore it. Its them that have the problem, not me.

I though it was pretty "neato bandito" that Fanglekai and neato bandito started off almost exactly the same way nearly at the same time.

I don't have a problem with them and would be open to one but haven't had any yet (for that matter haven't had many other relationships, really).

My sister is married to a Chinese guy and they dated throughout high school. My mom makes a big fucking deal about it since she's racist but no one else feels it's earth-shattering or anything.

I don't really see it as an issue - a lot of my relatives have married people of different races/coloured skin, so I kinda grew up around it. I didn't actually realise that a lot of people had this issue with that sorta thing till my mid teens.

Meh, it's more the interculture stuff that screws relationships over. I'm not going to say 'race is just skin deep' because 1. that's cheesey and 2. there's more to race than that, but yeah, I wouldn't sweet it.

Still, if you're going for random hookups I would recommend 'racial profiling', africans, no matter where they are in the world, are more likely to have AIDS than white people.

9 months in a relationship with a jamacian/italian split.

aside from the olders looking at us a little oddly theres no real special treatment from anyone. our friends are pretty much all the same we both really want to meet new people so being introduced into a new group of people was cool.

on the plus side, i always heard racist jokes from my family. my dad always spoke negatively, but he is a cop and 28 years in he's seen the worst of everyone so i give him a little slack. but all in all i was wrong, my family has welcomed her in and made her feel like family. vice versa in her family.

Honestly, if it was up to me to pick a girl by ethnicity she would be Czech/Slovak or any type of German, I suppose.

I guess I could handle a brit. I recently found out that about 80% of my ancestry is straight from the british isles (some scots/welsh too, but I imagine they were overrun by anglos at some point). For some reason all British girls I've seen have sickened me. Then again, I spent most of my time there in Manchester, and I hear they are different there.
