Default Brother will not wise up...

My brother is 17...he's hit the age where he is now answering back to everything and its dog - trying to be better/wiser than everyone around him..that and a strong mix of cold blooded arrogance. While I've managed to live with it for the last few weeks, its really begining to piss me off to the point i was hitting and kicking the side of my friends house last night to releave some of the built up rage...a rare thing for me to do.

This is not helping the situation at home. He seems to be completely ignorant of our parents until absolutely necessary. A perfect example has been his relationship with girlfriend - telling our folks he is staying over for the rest of the week only this morning...leaving my Mum very little say in the situation...and this isnt the first time its happened.

While I would like him to see his girlfriend and stay over, and I know he's at least out f my hair, our parents have given him the final straw where this visit is his last one. I have tried to tell him that the only way our parents wil listen to us is to argue it out with them...or at least proove to them that what you are doing is infact ok (they have very old school princibles, and worry like nothing before).

I had this problem before when I was 17...but I fial to see why my brother should chicken out and be a woose when the subject I would have thought...to him at least would be quite important.

I know this sounds like a rant..and at least half of it is - I just need some advice to give my brother the right kick up the arse before he gets further and further into the shit storm hes creating.

How much older are you? If your 2+ sit him down, give hima beer then tell him, he is being a prat.

If its like a year diffence do the same

If your younger, then just say you look up to him, and you dont want to wind up being like that?

sorry should have pointed that out - I'm 3 years older than him...I'm 20 and he's 17.

I have tried the "your a prat and sack up - im your big brother and you need to listen up" approach on a phone call to him not long ago...he dismissed it as I wasn't in a parental position - I am simply his brother, and he basically told me where I could shove it. Needless to say one owuld have thought an older brothers advice would be quite sound.

The problem there is my parents don't want to talk this over with him..even after I repeatly asked them to do so.

He will get in trouble someday, and that will sort him out.

Nothing says you are being rude like gang rape.
