Coffee-Shop Inamorata
It's a term I've coined recently that some have heard me use in conversation, yet never adequately explain.
It's really just a summarization of what, in my opinion, would be the perfect relationship. Wondering what an inamorata is? Well for those of you that are too lazy to look it up, it's a woman who is loved in an intimate relationship. Yea, that simple, it's just a more aesthetic and less verbose of a term.
Anyhow, a coffee shop inamorata would be a relationship in which the couple could be truly happy and comfortable just sitting in a coffee shop with one another. A bond where you could just gaze into the other's eyes and just understand each other without even having to say anything. More in depth, a relationship of equals, no one wears the pants, they both just flow together. A deeply romantic, yet respected friendship.
I want someone who would let me pamper them, but will surprise me as well; someone I could spend the entire night with, not really having to do anything, but just hold unto and talk about anything with. A loyal, passionate, honest, comfortable something.
Unfortunately, I have yet to be in a relationship with my own coffee-shop inamorata. What can I say, life's a bitch.

Unfortunately, if we could magically peer into eachother's minds like that, we'd be more alone than ever.
Without withholding information, without lies, we'd never get close to anyone at all.

Re: Coffee-Shop Inamorata
I dont feel that such a thing can exist.
BUT, I also think that I am currently experiencing the next closest thing, which really ends up being The Best Thing, since its second to something impossible.
My hopeless romanticism has been crushed into a little flat pancake of jadedness.
With a little bit of hope tacked on the end.

Oh god, I fucking hate coffee shops, people who drink coffee, and all the pretentiousness that surrounds it.
You want stimulation? Smoke meth.
You want something that tastes good? Drink Dr. Pepper.
edit: spelled surrounds wrong

I worked in a coffee shop. People routinely told me my lattes were the best they'd ever had. BOOYA
/pretentiousness
Seriously though, coffee is amazing as long as you arent drinking watered-down drip shit.

Interesting insight, but because I've had a few of these realtionships on a "friends" level it is quite appealing to me, things might have been moreso provided circumstances weren't in the way.

If you drink nasty starbucks shit yeah no wonder you don't like it. Good coffee is something amazing, and it's not illegal, nor is it loaded with high fructose corn syrup. I'll just enjoy my coffee, thanks.

Re: Coffee-Shop Inamorata
my my.. i've had a relationship like that...mostly. Except I always wear the pants in the relationship because boys of 16-18 years of age have no idea how to take care of themselves or others
with my first real one in highschool it worked well but he wanted more sexual attention than I was willing to give...the second one i think i was trying too hard to be the "cool"
girlfriend but I was still kind of immature and needy and I wasn't very intune with the way he felt in the beginning or we never would have lost our virginity, and this one is working very well

Nice. Local shop or what? Did you get the latte art down?
I love espresso
Anyway, yeah, I like the term. It's pretty cool sounding. And reading that made me just a little more lonely.

I'm the same way. Just saying, even in those deepest most trusting relationships, things are kept back. But that's just human nature!

I was the motherfucking latte master. All the other people would be lazy and steam it from the top for the first few seconds, making it get the requesite foam, then just dunk the wand to the bottom.
I actually cared, so I'd steam it from about 1/3 deep, for the entire heating time. At the very end, take the wand to the surface to get a thicker head on it. Basically, the entire drink would be heavy, rather than a layer of bubbles on top of regular milk. Then there was a layer of actual foam on top, like hot whip cream.

Re: Coffee-Shop Inamorata
Get over the fucking coffee and the coffee-shops.
It's a figure of speech representing what people do in coffee shops: connect in a comfortable setting.
No coffee involved; just a metaphor.
Thank you for those that realized this.

Unfortunately, it's not something you can seek out. So if that comes along, that would be spectacular. But until then...
