Default So, I don't get it, why do I still act so insecure?

OK so basically, I used to be really insecure, thought my friends really didn't like me much, noone really cared, I just wasn't a good person so why would they blah blah moan moan.

Anyway, that's all changed, various things, it was a slow process, I realised how cool my friends are and how much they do actually care AND WHAT NOT, and yeah. That's all good, I'm no longer second guessing and thinking "oh they probably don't like me that much" and all the rest.

But with my girlfriend, I've started doing it again. I'm still always freaking out. Something like a missed text or misinterpreting what she says and either snapping at her or holding it in until I become delusional and accuse her of things...and...yeah. She's very understanding, but basically I'd like to stop.

Hmm. I sometimes really suck at writing coherent posts. My apologies. But does anyone have any ideas/similar experiences/general advice?

EDIT: I became less insecure before I got the girlfriend. just to clarify.

You need to just let go, and understand that she's human, too.

A missed text, a misinteration... Those things are a part of life, and something that will happen so long as you date other humans.

What you should do, though, is make sure she understands this problem, and try and work around it. When you feel your brain starting to get into that mode of thinking, make yourself stop.

Think back to the last time your girlfriend said she loves you, and let all of your confusion and insecurity drain away.

After enough time of training yourself to understand that she's human, you'll be doing it natural. Just don't give up, and always remember that she cares enough about you to be your girlfriend. So you can always ask her for understanding and love.

Always remember that.

I never thought of you as someone who might be insecure. Misunderstandings are very common, especially during the beginning. What sort of things set you off?
