Default Be a man, son.

So once again i have an upset teenage 15 year old son . His 19 year old girlfriend was supposed to be driving down today to see him. And once AGAIN she got within a few miles and found a reason to turn around and go home.

This is the conversation I had with him about it, translated outta the original 'Kauderwelsch'(gobbledygook).

I thought maybe someone here could take something from it or you can just take the opportunity to flame my dire lack of parenting skills ...

Him:*distraught* "I just got a text from her. Because I didn't answer my cell she has turned round and is driving home!

Me: *gobsmacked* "What the FUCK??!!! She drove 3 hours and got to within 25 miles of here, and because you didn't answer your phone she's going home again??! Tell me you're joking?"

Him:*brokenhearted* "What do I do Dad??! Can you talk to her?"

Me: *extremely narked at this girl for causing my son such pain yet again * "Nope, its time for you to man up. There are only 3 possibly explanations. One, she was never really coming down and was lying about being on the way. Two, She was looking for an excuse to turn around...didn't matter much which or three, and the one i favour, SHE IS A TOTAL FUCKING HEADCASE! No one in their right mind drives 3 hours and then turns round just cos you didn't answer your phone.

When she texts/phones or IM's you , you say this "Babe, i really love you but this has gone far enough. You want to talk to me then you come down here an do it! BASTA!".

Don't get into a discussion with her or you'll relent. Be firm and clear. You want her and you want her in your life but no more of this shite. She wants to talk to you then she can turn her car round again and drive back.

Him: But Dad, she is really sensitive and I'm scared she'll...

Me: "She's an adult, you aint. If she decides to do something stupid then it is because she has chosen to. You have to put your foot down now and be firm. You give in cos you're scared of what she might do to herself then you'll spend the rest of the relationship scared to say or do anything that might upset her. That ain't no way to have a relationship."

Most likely, she's a little off her rocker, but more true is that she likes toying with your son.

I'd suggest taking him out into the wild, and leaving him there for a month. If he lives, he has become a MAN.

Your son's 15 and his girlfriend is 19?? Man I wish I was that lucky...

Probably might just be fucking with him or something, or maybe she has doubts about the relationship, but just doesnt want to end it? And wants him to end it or something?

Hell, she could ALWAYS just insane and more immature than him...

Which is rather common, now that I think about it, in women... They mature faster, physically, but mentally, most never get over the age of 15.

The few that do age mentally and get over their idiotic emotional hangups are always doomed to fall back down every now and again.

It's so fucking awesome being a man!

Jack that was great advice. I love my parents, and they did a great job bringing me up, but i do wish i had a father who had given me such blunt advice when i was having relationship problems. Words such as that are invaluable, and its something i had to learn the hard way.

Of course i say that now, hindsight is 20-20.

Props on the parenting skills jack.

You just sort of... Prove my case... So sad...

Oh, and I know because, unlike your ex boyfriend, I am a man. And, unlike you, I understand that to be emotional stable means I can't get angry at the drop of a post.

Ah well, good luck babe.

lmao, so bitchy gustave! You should know what I'm like by now. It saddens me a bit.

Regardless of my situation, or how fucked up I may be for daring to be loyal to a man and treating him with respect for two years, not all women are as stupid or lame as I obviously am.

Not in a bitchy way, but if you think that *all* women are emotionally fucked up, psychos, crippled psychologically or ect, that reflects more on the women you chose rather than women in general..

Anyway back on topic, Jackketch, that was awesome advice you gave your son, but I reckons he was probably more looking for a

"dont worry, it will all come out in the wash.." kind of talk.

He's a bit young to be getting into such complex difficult situations . reason Number10436976 on why to never have children: whenever someone hurt them, I'd be wanting to hunt that someone down with a machette.

XHippie HunterX,Aseren , thats kinda the point. I had the world's best dad. He was slow to chide and swift to bless. He had a patience that made St Francis of Assisi look short tempered. He was never unfair or unjust. An autodidact, grew up in the bomb sites of the East End he always had a kind word for everyone and I can remember my shock , when years later as an adult, I actually saw him have a fit of bad temper.

BUT i don't think i could have ever spoken to him about girls/sex in the way my kids can with me. Stupid really because he would have given me good answers (and no doubt saved me a whole heap of trouble). He wouldn't have been embarrassed but i would have been!

So despite knowing I'll never be half as good a dad as he was, that at least in one thing I score over him as a parent.

Being a man is over rated.

Being a hedgehog (http://www.animalnetwork.com/critters/profiles/art/hedgehog.jpg), on the other hand, is entirely too underrated.

You know, Jack, I've done similar things to many a girl, myself. It's a power thing, and she's getting off on how easy it is to fuck with your bitch-son.

Take your son out into the woods, and bond with him. Force him to understand that she's just a fucking insane bitch, and that he should man the fuck up, and stop being a pussy.

That's really the only way this won't end with emo-tears. :\

She didn't turn up! Apparently she got sooooo lost in the depths of norfolk. I mean there are places here that are seemingly desolate at night but you drive on for a few miles and you'll always find a pub/church/village/ducking stool which you can orientate yourself by. All she had to do was phone and say 'i just past a sign for Upper Nosebleed' and we could have guided her in.

For christs sake, this isn't the fucking Gobi!

So basically I'm thinking she was never really en route. Because you can't drive a car and not known roughly where you are...like which major town you last drove through. Yes you can get lost, we all have but you always know that you are, for example, maybe 5 miles outside Norwich or wherever or you passed a pub called 'The Tart's Arms' maybe a mile back etc etc

If you don't then you shouldn't be driving a car.

Anyways at 1:00 both son and i gave up waiting. Maybe she did spend the night huddled in a Norfolk ditch but i somehow doubt it greatly.

Ah yeah, but that's the thing... When done correctly, you wouldn't notice or understand that.

That's the evil tricky part, and why it is so bad for me (and most normal men) to do.

Yeah he ended it with her .But he said things that i found unnecessarily hurtful so he got a lecture about that.

Now of course he has started to talking to her again..."just as friends , dad"

*beats son's head against nearest wall*

Perhaps they'll become...'buddies'?

Anal Only...

Is there any truth to the talk that both the Englanders & the Germans are particularly fond of the Anal? That would be exthellent!

As a kid in college who has seen situations as this before. She is cheating on him and just doesn't really feel like breaking up with him.

hah. that's good to know. I know what you mean though, I've been going to an american school (in Austria) for five years now and I think in english most of the time, to the point where I remember things in english that I saw or heard in german.

It's a good thing he ended it.

But be careful if they are still 'friends' because it might lead to another relationship where your son gets his heart broken again.

Where do you live anyways?

and if your son and his girlfriend were having sex.... mann thats stategtory rape.

What sort of stuff did he say to her that was so hurtfull?

After all the hurt she inflicted on him, I think he had a bit of a right to inflict as much hurt as he could on her, verbally.

Shit.. I fear that your son will now join the army of guys that think that *all* women are mad nasty whores.

Apparently she did finally come down here and met him but she was toooo scared to come by the house. For some reason she has got the impression that i am some kind of monster??!

Which is a bit hurtful as to know me is to love me .

Anyways the 'hurtful stuff': Her granddad had just died and my kid said something nasty about that (something like 'he probably died to get away from you ).

I think that your son will never man up until you give him a gun.

he probably used you as an excuse for his bad behaviour, as a victim of circumstances so she sympathises with him. he doesn´t mean it, he just wants to get the girl ..

let him play dad, he´s still so young ..
