Default Dead loved ones 'haunting' us...

Okies, before anyone asks why I didn't post this in paranormal forum I should point out that this isn't in any way about the supernatural. I stopped believing in ghosts about the same time i quit believing in other mythical things like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, honest politicians and girls on the interweb.

Nor am I am claiming any psychic ability..I have enough trouble dealing with the 'Quick' let alone the dead.

As some of you know i am doing some DIY at the moment. Its one of those long laborious jobs, which will take weeks to finish properly.

The longer I spend on it the more i can 'feel' my granddad's presence. Childhood memories (some I'd rather forget again) keep on surfacing and i have even found myself having mental 'conversations' with his shade.

You see, my granddad was an A1 arsehole. My sister, who is surprisingly literate for a librarian (users of public libraries will know what i mean), always describes him being surrounded by a distinct 'whiff of sulphur'. He was, among other things, a sadist and a deviant...who ruined not only my mother's childhood but mine too.

However he was a truly gifted craftsman and taught me (usually using annoyingly smug homilies) a lot about woodwork and tools in general.

Soooo now i find myself wiping down tools before i return them to the hire shop and can feel him nodding on approvingly and I hear him say 'keep your tools clean and sharp and you'll never lack for custom'.

Or i think about cutting a corner , not doing a bit that no one will ever see or care about and I suddenly have a conversation with him:

Me: "Gan-Gan I'm gonna leave this bit, no one will ever know"

Him:"Boo(my childhood nickname!)you'll know...take pride in your work boy"

Anyone else get guidance and 'help' from departed family members, dead partners?

I barely knew my family outside of the immediate...so...I guess not. I think it's just the "voices" of the people I am close to right now that I "hear" in my head. Like one of my closest girlfriend who is always reminding me to be true to myself, and those who tell me to believe in my talent.

I would have loved to have known my grandparents in an everyday way. Even my aunts, uncles, and cousins would have been nice. This is one of the things an extended family can give you, along with a sense of belonging....sometimes.

I get a lot of this from my uncle. I always kept it to myself, as I thought it might make me sound.. well, crazy! He's always there to remind me that I can choose exactly the way I want to be. His presence is an eerie one. I can smell a thick aroma of Calvin Klein's Obsession and hear his Versace shoes squeak. Or I can hear his potter's wheel spinning in odd places. I think it's his way of keeping me in check. His favorite thing to say was, "It's too bad of a night out to waste good hair and shoes on. Let's just stay home and and be great big bitches."

Yes, he was gay.

Jacketch, Have you seriously thought about seeing a median? I mean, If you don't tell them what you told us, How are they going to lie and pretend they know?

I had one visit my house (Idea of some relative) and she walked straight into my house, went straight to spot where I had seen this women numerous times and then proceeded to describe the woman, and the man I had seen. She then explained there life story, she described them exactly as I saw them!

After she cleansed the house - I never saw anything again.

Now bearing in mind, I had told her NOTHING. Then take it into account how what I had seen wasnt the normal sighting... How else could she have known, If she didn't have these powers? I don't want to take this thread off-topic BUT, It just *might* be worth it...

Either way, If this thing is startin to affect you, i.e bringing back bad memories. You need to sort it out, in case it has a bad effect on your mental health. (And I'd rather go to a median and say "Im hearing my dead grandfather" then going to a doctor and saying it!

Good luck!

^^^I think you miss the point. He's referring to those things that come to mind from those in our past who had a strong influence on us. Memories...not spirit. Memories include our senses, not merely thoughts.

It's kind of like having an internal dialogue based upon passed experiences, and it brings all our senses into play.

No, I saw the point.

I'd just be slightly worried if the memories its bringing back are ones that would rather be forgotten. And maybe it being spiritual isnt too farfetched.

Depends on how you define "spiritual", I guess....internal vs external.

Funny how differently people read things. The specific memories are [to me] good ones...good things to practice, albeit from a person who had a negative impact as well. Kind of like remembering both the good and bad....and the balancing act between the two.

I am somewhat unsure how an ancient persian might help me...or where i would find one.

I assume you simply meant a 'Mede' and didn't realise that 'median' is the adjective?

Well played sir, well played.

I sometimes daydream about how I would finally tell my dad off for being such a negligent parent. He's still alive, though, so the day might yet come.

Sometimes I hear my dad, but he's not actually dead. It's just like he is dead because I never see him or speak to him. Sometimes if I'm really adgitated I'll...Feel Dr. Knob. I don't know how to explain it, because he's not dead either!

I used to feel phantom kicking a lot...From the fetus I miscarried before I got pregnant with my daughter. I would feel the kicks and sometimes hear a baby crying, like at night. It's been seven years and it still happens from time to time.

Forget about moving this to PD; if I were you I would be properly shitting my pants!
