Gf's Public Affection Issues
Well im sure this has been brought up before, but ill ask anyway.
My gf has a big issue with public affection. She will kiss me every once in a while quickly on the lips if we are in public and thats all. I asked her why she wouldn't give me a "kiss" and she said she didnt like doing things like that in public and its how she has always been. I respected that. Then she told me she wanted to try and get over that issue.
So my question is, How can I help her get over her public affection issues?

Re: Gf's Public Affection Issues
Why should she??!
Some people are fine with public shows of affection, some aren't. It doesn't matter unless your ego is sooo weak you need it to feel a man?
Just be glad she isn't one of those who can't live without constant hand holding and public 'lovey doveyness'.

I dont have a problem if she doesnt want to show affection in public. She told me she wanted to try and get over her dislike of it, but she didnt know how.

Hold her against a wall, while kissing her passionately. If that doesn't work, turkey slap her.
The turkey slap probably won't help, but it'd make a great story.

Re: Gf's Public Affection Issues
You have affection... should it make any difference if it's public or private?
Constant touching and hand holding is tiresome.

OMG, SO TRUE! I was once in a relationship like that. Since she was quite the dominating female, I didn't really care that much, but it got quite awkward at times. If I ever end up in another relationship like that, I am NOT keeping my mouth shut about my feelings on the issue.

Re: Gf's Public Affection Issues
If I'm ever involved with a woman that *has* to have that much attention in front of other people, it won't last very long. Anyone that clingy isn't doing it for you, they're doing it to get attention from strangers. I don't want to snog and and feel her up when I'm out and about. I want to buy my groceries, do whatever I need to do, and get back to my private life.
Tell her it's one of her finer qualities, because it is.

Re: Gf's Public Affection Issues
Obviously she gets embarassed easily. The way to combat this is to build her self confidence in other areas of her life.

Re: Gf's Public Affection Issues
I don't like being too affectionate in public. I find it to be very icky seeing random people all over each other. It's always bothered me. A hug, peck on the lips, hand holding.. that's all fine. But when it leaves that area, it gets annoying. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a girlfriend nearly fucking her boy in public. It's just.. annoying.. not to mention tacky.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like displaying a lot of affection in public. A little is good, but I really see no reason for me to get all over a girl in public when I can just as easily do it at home.

Re: Gf's Public Affection Issues
I used to make out with this chick every lunchtime in 6th form i would sit on this table and she would step either side of one of my legs and grind a bit.
One day after college, there was noone in the common room so she blew me out of sight of the cctv.

Why make her get over her dislike of it, if it's really not her thing?
Besides, she doesn't sound like she really wants to get over it, anyway. "Doesn't know how" sounds like a subtle way of saying she doesn't want to chage her way.
