Default a rebound, that lasted a year?

Well &totse, i'm single again.

After a year and a half long relationship with a girl who lived on the opposite side of the country. We met over the internet, got to know eachother via aim and email, and not long after that we were talking for hours every day on the phone. I had just gotten out of a very, very shitty relationship, and the last thing i wanted was anything to do with the word. She helped me get over it, and i stoped denying the fact that i had feelings for her. We just kept getting closer and closer, until we were both saying "i love you". and meaning it.

Anyway, My point is that over the course of a year and a half, i built up a strong relationship with the most amazing girl i've ever met. But just a couple weeks ago, she started acting cold, uncaring, like i didn't matter to her. We "talked" about it, and ended up agreeing on us taking a break until i move to idaho like i was planning on doing this summer. Now, she's going to get back together with the guy she had been going out with before me. The guy who dumped her twice, cheated on her, and treated her like shit. Sure, i wasn't perfect, but i don't understand why this is happening all of a sudden. It's as if i was just a rebound, and everything we had together now means nothing to her... only we had so much, it doesn't make sense that it would be a rebound.

Ugh, fuck me. i'm just hopelessly confused at everything, and needed to vent a little.

QFT. Phone relationships with someone you haven't met aren't real. OP, get out of your basement and go meet people.

I suppose we didn't get to spend enough physical time together, but we both understood that we wouldn't get much until this summer. I mean, fuck, it's almost a thousand bucks for me to fly out there and stay for a weekend.

Should have got a job. She gave you a year and a half dude.

I'm about to get into a very similar situation, but I'm going to make it work.

That's not the problem, i have enough cash to go down there, get an appartment, and pay for shit until i get a job. The problem is that i'm 17, and can't move down there for obviousl reasons. If there was any way for me to do more then i was, i would be doing it. It was just a matter of waiting a couple more months for what she claimed was "the best thing in her life". I guess that changed rather quickly.

She's a girl. You two hadn't spent time together in person. What do you expect?? You're 17; you don't need to move to another city for a random girl. Focus on your studies. There's no need to try to get all serious with a girl you don't even know.

We have been together, it's just been about three months since the last time i was able to get down there. My studies are fine, that's not the problem. i'm taking a year off to travel before going to college, and i'm already set as far as college plans are concerned. that part of my life isn't the part that's lacking.

I can honestly say that she and i had a connection unlike anything i'd ever experienced before with anyone else, it was truly the most amazing mix of emotions i've ever felt. I suppose that this is probably just me be clingy, but life seems empty without her in it. even my break up with my first girlfriend, all of those feelings were nothing next to what i'm feeling now. i've lost a part of myself, and i'm looking for some way to start feeling the way i used to before all of this.

What do you do when someone you love stops loving you back? I'm not going to debate whether i was "in love" or if it was just another "teen infatuation", the point is that i no longer have the one relationship that's given me more pleasure (and pain) then anything else. And i'm sort of directionless right now, i need something that's not there anymore, and as of right now i'm lost.

I understand, and I'll say that so that you'll feel a bit better about the relationship. Everybody seems to be putting you down on this since you never physically touched.

It's a lot easier to become attached to people over the internet, I know. I've met lots of people from all over that I hold in high respect, as if they're the best friends in the world. I've also lost a lot of them as well, they move or just stop visiting, we loose interest. That sucks too.

Lack of physical contact is hard for any human being. That's probably the reason she's going back to him. You're not her rebound, he's hers. She feels that he's the only person that can give her the affection she needs right now.

Try to get down there as soon as you can. I'm sure everything will work out when you two see each other. She most likely feels pressured to have a boyfriend in real life, a long side the rest of her friends, so she can show him off and such.

Anyways, I'm terribly sorry about the break up. I'm sure you'll work things out in the future, if you're both willing.

I just hope she doesn't give up on me. I'm pretty confident that i'll be able to sweep her off her feet when i go down there this summer to stay, as long as she's single. and judging by this alex guy she wants to go out with, well... she won't be going out with him by that time.
