She does! She's always tellin me to stay home when I make plans, but I go anyway (of course).. and she makes up these dumbass stories about why I shouldn't date her... but like she's awesome.

How can I tell my mom that its not her decision and I'm gonna do what I want regardless?

Just tell your mother you respect her and you respect her opinion. But, you feel that the people you date should be your own decision and that she should respect that about you and trust the choices you make. There's a reason you're with your girlfriend and your mother just can't see it. Or vica versa, your mother knows there's something wrong with her that you don't know yet. Either way, you'll both meet in the middle at some point.

It's just your mom being protective probably.

If she tells you stuff like she's not the right girl for you just tell her you're in it for the poon.

At when I was 17 my mom did the same sorta thing about women.. TURNED OUT SHE WAS RIGHT.

BUT beside that, What I told her is who I date is my own business, I respect her dislike for her, but thats just it, her opinon.

Most mothers will understand, and if she doesn't.. shes just being over protective.. and at which point you need to tell her something about how does she ever expect you to be independant when she is still trying to make decisions for you?

Yeah my mum wasn't as open as yours when that happened to me (i was 17 then) being over protective etc, i didn't try and have a talk or anything.

we just went and hung out/did stuff together etc just to show her no matter what she did we were gonna stay together and keep seeing each other.

Good luck dealing with your mum though, a talk may help her understand your position as well as hers, so hopefully she'll lay off you a bit

I think it's jealousy, and to combat that it would be best to show her some more affection.

or you can just go the offensive strategy and say to her face "mom, i think you are jealous of my girlfriend"

Its really really frustating. I know for a fact I know more about her than mom does. It may be jealousy tho, after a failed marriage she finds herself unable to love anymore. Perhaps if I help mom get back into the dating game she'll be more accepting of mine?

All I know for sure is that this girl is totally worth the effort. I don't have any pics, but let me assure you she is one of a kind.

Your mum's mentality after a failed marriage is not your problem. A child finding a potential spouse for their parent sounds a little weird to me, personally.

Same here, that shit only seems to work out in cutesy, Disney-like movies. Maybe your girlfriend is a bitch and you're just blindsided by it? She could be jealous but she could also be right, think of how many friends get a girlfriend where you try to tell them otherwise but to no avail... it could be like that. Relationships are a lot easier when your parents are cool with your "other", especially if you're still living at home and/or you're close with them.

I always used my mom as a gauge. Although we really don't like each other too much, and I don't respect her opinion on anything else, she was always right about the losers and the winners I brought home. I think often times, parents are better judges of character than their kids are as far as picking out a mate. Sometimes we're blinded..

But you are 19, you're an adult. But I promise she's a guaranteed ex.

I'm a very very logical person, I can see easily if someone has a problem. This girl doesn't. Simple as that. Its most definitely a problem with my mother.. like I said she makes up insane stories like "she'll stab you with a knitting needle" or "she'll get pregnant on purpose and ruin your life".

Well shit if your mom has said things that extreme, you should probably get some other people's opinions of your g/f as well, if they all think she's crazy then dump her ass.
