Hey guys. I need some help. At the right old age of 18 i have come to understand that my life is pointless and is never going anywhere. Now even though i think about sucide, I would never do it. How do i cope with haveing nothing in life to go for? I have a full time job that i hate but the reason i don't leave it is because i know i will hate any job just the same. I have no hobbies, I don't go out, I don't like to drink and i have no friends. I know people are just going to say well go get friends but i just can't stand being around people. If people come to my house to see my family i panic and hide. If there is more than a few people in a room i start to freak.

Go to a doctor. It sounds like you have major social anxiety issues.

I can understand what you mean though. I don't like being around alot of people and I was painfully shy growing up. The way I've been able to get over it (to some extent) is to just throw myself into situations, even if I don't feel comfortable. The more you meet and talk to people, the easier it gets.

lol i would go to the doctor but i can't stand the guy. When i was younger. I use to think that i would be happy going out with people but when i did i found i felt as lonely as i did when i stayed at home.

I hate to sound like a douche, but I think a lot of people do bring this on themselves. Up until the past decade or two, this hasn't been that big a problem.

People just aren't willing to put any work into fixing their own problems. They want a pill to make everything better, or just writhe in their own misery.

The possibilities are endless. You have to be willing to exit your comfort zone to get anywhere. If you don't have any intrests such as these, you need to make something intrest you. Once you meet someone, you will begin to meet others through them. You just gotta be willing to take the first step.

As far as social anxiety, I'd recommend you just practice at that. You have a job, so you apparently aren't afraid of people that much. Try going to populated areas that require no interaction with the people around you. Take walks in a park. Maybe go to the zoo and look at the animals. Soon you might find that people aren't scary at all.

Life really isn't hard. We need less suicide counselling. These types of people are weakening the species.

How's he gonna make friends if he has no hobbies and doesn't like drinking either? What the fuck would he do with said friends? I really doubt he'd have anything to chat about with them either

is there anything that you have ever enjoyed doing? anything that ever brought you happiness in life? think way back. if something is keeping you from enjoying these things in the present that you used to enjoy, there might be deeper issues that you can explore in therapy. if you still enjoy some things, start doing them!

You don't need to be a drinker to have friends.

I don't drink anymore because I need to be in top physical shape and it hurts my run too much. I still have friends, I just don't hit the pubs anymore.

You don't even need to have common hobbies to be friends with someone. All you have to do is enjoy their company and they enjoy yours.

Murder/suicide? Drugs?

Get a life?
