Default Vegetarians

What is your attitude towards vegetaratians?

I've had this discussion countless times, but I'm always still curious.

Personally, I'm all for vegetarians. I'll go into more depth further along in the thread.

Heh, most of the "vegeans" arround here are just a bunch of emo kids that don't even know the real meaning. Example a bunch of emo girls claim that there going full vegean or some shit but yet you see them eating products made from animals. And if you ask them why they choose not to they get all bitchey and say because animal murder is wrong lol. I don't have a problem with any of them but I have never met a real vegetarian. And I can prove that these emos are lying lol I'll get a picture of this girl that is a vegean supposedley since she was 8 but yet she weighs 300LBS??? How the fuck can that be possible.

Well, vegan doesn't necessarily mean healthy. You could eat chocolate all day and still be vegan.

"a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc."

therefor they do not have milk, which means no chocolate.

i've been a vegetarian since i was 11. haven't touched meat since then. i don't eat fish, but i do eat eggs and dairy.

i don't care if my friends or guy i'm with eat meat. it's their choice and i don't judge them for it at all. at the same time, i do get pissy inside when people use the fact that i am a vegetarian to throw baseless, unfounded insults on me. it's a fucking eating choice people, not a religion or cult.

I have a best friend/ex-boyfriend who's a vegetarian.

We've had 'the discussion', a couple of times.

And now we just don't talk about the whole, pro/anti meat thing, due to some very heated arguments and both parties getting rather irriated with eachother.

But you know, I'm pro-choice, if people don't want to eat meat that's their bussiness.

I have not problem with the herbivores.

Exactly.

My girl is a vegetarian; I have no clue how long she's been one. However, I really don't mind it, and I won't try to convert her, just as long as she doesn't try to convert me. But the day she tells me to stop eating meat, the relationship ends.

Vegans can eat darkchocolate, trust me on this. It's just a question of checking the back of the wrapper.

Lol... Godbless vegans and vegetarians. They hike up my commission no end.

The shop I work in, we sell loads of overpriced vegan/vegetarian crap. If it's got

'VEGETARIAN' or 'VEGAN FRIENDLY' or 'ORGANIC' on the packaging, they'll lap it up.

I served a vegetarian couple once, they were very nice people actually, but they spent like £40 on a few soya sausages and a bunch of tofu.

But whatever. Whatever floats their boat. Aslong as they dont try to force their living habits onto me they're cool.

But, why the fuck is this in S&A?

The only meat I eat is fish and other seafood (also eggs if that counts). I was a total vegetarian for about two years but slowly strted eating fish again because I love it.

Vegetarianism is a respectable stance, in my eyes, for a person to take considering all the "goddamn hippie, faggot, pussy" criticism against it. It definitely shows, to some degree, character strength in a person.

Definitely a turn on in a girl, but not turn off if she is a carnivore.

My tolerance of vegetarians depends entirely of their justification of their choice. Vegans too, though to a lesser extent, because I respect their commitment to their beliefs, whatever those beliefs may be.

Vegetarians who say "I don't eat meat because killing animals is wrong!" win a slap in the face along with the anti-fur, leather shoes brigade.

It implies that they believe that by not eating meat they are harming no animals. Point out to them that they are still buying L'Oreal make-up, tested on animals, or the damage to wildlife that the production of crops causes, and they get arsey with you.

A vegetarian who'll say "I choose not to eat meat because I believe it's wrong, and I try to live my life in a way that will harm as few animals as possible", or something along those lines, is fine by me, as are people who "Just don't like the taste". Fine.

I have no time for people who have badly thought-out and arrogantly presented beliefs.

hey guys,

i am a vegetarian, born one. Yes, I am indian. but really, the only "vegetarian" principle I reallt follow is that i don't eat products that require an animal to be killed in order to make it. So, having dairy products is fine with me as long as the cow isn't killed in some way. And thus, i pretty much include poultry and fish in my definition of meat. thats pretty much it.

oh, and also. i CAN'T STAND people who buy tofu sausage, or pretty much soy/tofu that looks like meat. Isn't the objective to become healthier and NOT become attached to meat? I don't see the fucking purpose of why people buy meat looking non-meat products. honestly, that usually defeats the purpose

and of course, i don't actually care if your a vegetarian or not. i will stand by my principles, and if you don't care/want to follow, thats your prerogative. thats all for now

Some people don't eat meat because they don't like how it tastes, like it tastes "dead." At least that's how I feel. Boca burgers and stuff like that may slightly resemble the real thing in how they look, but definitely not in how they taste. Or maybe they like meat, but they feel it's wrong to kill and eat animals, so they eat the most similar animal-safe food they can. Soy is really healthy for the heart, too. Even some meat-eaters eat veggie burgers now and then.

Oh, so those dead veggies aren't "dead" tasting? Yeah, that makes sense. Really, it does. The same way Bush's war makes sense.

So they go and kill some happy innocent plants to feed their needs? I've never understood how someone could say that it was wrong to kill animals, and then go and dine on the remains of a few hundred innocent plants.

Oh, right, they don't feel pain. That's been proven inncorrect. Plants feel pain, we just can't see them expressing it. Oh, but I guess that still isn't bad, right? If we can't see it, it's alright then...

Fucking hypocrites. :\

quote:Originally posted by emogan:

Soy is not very healthy, at all. The reason, though, everyone thinks the opposite is that it was found to be easy to make, cheap to make, and mostly unknown to everyone. Instant "health" food.

Gotta love big buisness, right? RIGHT?

Really though, we have teeth for eating meat, and we have teeth for eating plants. I eat both, and they're both good. But by not eating one, you are upsetting your body's natural balance.

Of course, though, with all of the crap in our current enviorment, I can see how such a "little" upset to ourselves isn't really noticed...

Ah well, just as long as I don't have to listen to veggies whine about animal torture, it's alright.

1.) Eating an orange doesn't kill an orange tree. Most plant products eaten are "made" to be eaten, to spread seeds and so forth.

2.) Definition of pain:

quote:a basic bodily sensation induced by a noxious stimulus, received by naked nerve endings, characterized by physical discomfort (as pricking, throbbing, or aching), and typically leading to evasive action

As plants have no nerves, I wonder how it has been proven that they feel pain.

3.) You have to kill things to live. That's just the way of it. However, a cow not only munches on all that poor grass but has a life of its own. Even if your strange little theory - excuse me, fact - of plants feeling pain was correct, eating meat would still cause yet more death.

I find such a vegetarary trait to be attractive in a girl. The food is good and vegetarians generally know more about food science and nutrition than others. It's a lifestyle that intriques me.

I've been told I'm a man's man, but I'll be damned if every single one of those vegetarian dishes doesn't taste great.
