Default What to do when gf doesn't accept 'no'?

I've been with my girlfriend for about two months now. We have this little 'tradition' I guess you could say about meeting someplace every weekend. On the weekend of October 29th, she made me go with her someplace because something happened that made her really sad the year before and the 'anniversary' of it made her really depressed. So I pissed off my parents to go with her to the mall.

Now, I'm talking to her right now and she's not taking 'no' for an answer when I really don't feel like meeting her this weekend. It seems like she's really trying to make me feel bad so I go with her, and she won't fucking stop annoying me!! It's really pissing me off and while I like her a lot, it's this persistent attitude I absolutely hate. Even if I say "My parents will be pissed off if I go again to your house" she'll say something like "We won't go to my house then" WTF? That's not the fucking point! The point is my parents are pissed off enough taking me places to go with her.

I really don't know what to do. Is she being clingy and manipulative? Should I break up with her?

Your girlfriend needs you dude. If you're any good as a boyfriend, you've gotta respect that, and go.

She's bugging you because she NEEDS you there, she doesn't merely want you there, like you want out because you 'dont feel like it'.

Pull your socks up and get on with it.

I realize she does, and I've been there for her every other time she's asked. This is only once.

I'd LOVE to be with her 24/7... I really like her. But this weekend is different. I have two English projects to work on (one of which will need Flash which I don't even know yet) and I have to study for three tests in the next week. We're both at one of the best high schools in the nations (but she's a frosh and I'm a soph) and she should understand that I need my time to study. If I do well on the tests, I could possibly get an A in two of those classes. I really need to study for them.

It's so hectic this weekend and even though I would love to be with her, I can't.

It just annoys me so much that she just can't take 'no' for an answer. It's only one weekend, damn it. Every other time she convinced me to go with her to the mall or house or whatever. It's just a hunch of mine but I think she's trying to be manipulative or something. It's really getting on my nerves.

And my friends have told me that even though I have a girlfriend, I don't need to be with her everyday, but yet I'm pretty much doing that... hm.

i'm sorry, but i'm a girl and even i think she's being really needy/clingy/annoying as hell. you don't have to see each other EVERY weekend. for pete's sake, just tell her you can't and you'll see her later.

She is being clingy and dependent.

She doesn't "need you there". She needs to grow up and deal with her problems herself.

Tell her it would be best to face it alone, because she has to grow as her own person.

Tell her you like the independence, only if you do of course.

If she really cared about you, she would see your dilemma from your point of view and realize that maybe your life needs to be straightened out first before you can deal with hers.

it never gets better. I had a gf like that in high school. She was really dependent and clingy. I let it go on for a year and it was hell on earth when I broke up with her. She later attempted suicide and is now in psychiatric care. I don't blame myself because she was already fucked up but i think if i broke it off after 2 months of this crazy clingy shit then she would have been better off.

Fucked up stuff.

I've always been kicked back and relaxed as person, and generally attracted the same type of girl.

Exactly. Plus you need space. Everyone needs it.

i'm starting to understand the travails of dating a freshman. but, in all reality, if you like this girl as much as you say you do, bust your ass to get those projects done, and go to her! i can't see my gf anywhere near as much as i'd like to, so if i were you, i'd budget my time well. find a way to get everything done.

"Accept no...Don't accept no...Whatever baby, I have shit I gotta do!"

Make her realise that a relationship is give and take...Sometimes she's got shit to do...Other you got shit to do...Whatever.

Umm... what definition are we using for "clingy?" I don't think I've ever been in a relationship where I didn't want to see the girl at least once a weekend. That's always been couple-time in my mind.

Thanks for the answers guys. I'll tell her some of that later, but this weekend it's fine cause neither of us can meet anyway :-P I've been saved!!
