Ok I am going to dump my girlfriend. We've been together for a year and haven't had any major arguements. I think this might be the problem, I'm bored in this relationship and can't see it going anywhere. The only thing that gets better is the sex.

She loves me, and I don't really love her back which is another reason not to continue this, I'm not going to tell her this as it won't help a break up much I think.

I don't know how we got this far along the line, I guess we jsut fitted kind of easily in each others lives, but she's a couple of years younger than me and relationship experience consists of just me so she doesn't really know what or what not to say/do.

So anyway ideas on how to dump her without being hated and hopefully continuing as friends. She can hate me, just as long as it's not to my face.

Ideas i've used already in previous breakups which are out of the question:

1. Pretending to be gay so she dumped me.

2. Saying 'lets have a break' and then making it a permanent one.

Don't be a coward and just tell her you don't see a future with her. Try the truth. It works much better.

Well she suspected a while back that I didn't but I thought that it was bullshit that we should discontinue a relationship on grounds of no love so said I did to avoid her getting emo and an acrimonious break up.

Plus I'm her first boyfriend so it will completely 0wn her if I say I was just pretending the whole time. She thinks I'm perfect(I know, fucking crazy).

Also I should have mentioned, I would have not let it drag on so long had I been totally sure I didn't want to be with her.

I spoke to a good friend about the situation, and he suggested I might love her but just not realise it. I wanted this to work, it would be the perfect relatio if I loved her back. In fact, talking about this is making me have doubts about how bad it really is. But I can't drag it on.

Honestly, Im still friends with an ex girlfriend... she broke up with me, though, and I dunno if that makes a difference. It was only a month or two after we broke up that we started talking again, too... theres always exceptions.

I do, however, agree that claiming you can still be friends while breaking up with your significant other is retarded. If you are going to be friends after it, let it happen. Especially if you're breaking up with a sexual partner, you need time apart to adjust to the change in your life.
