Default I just don't know what to do in these situations, totse...

So today my mom and dad went shopping with my two younger sisters and my baby brother, and they bought almost the whole family nice, new boots from Timberland for the winter. I was home. So they all come back, everything is going fine except that my mom is bitching a little bit about the cleaning lady for washing the light clothes with the dark clothes.

Then everything goes horribly wrong.

My mom takes a pair of old boots and puts them in the new Timberland box(Which has a $140 price tag on it) and asks me to take them to the neighbours, who are poorer than us. Well, alarm bells are going off in my head - No way am I going to just give our neighbours old, stinky boots in a box with a $140 price tag on it. I tell my mom so, and we argue about it for a minute or two before my mom bursts into tears and starts screaming and yelling at me - that I never help out, etc. etc.

Then my dad tries to stop the argument by telling my mom to stop screaming, and she turns on him. Long story short, my dad just drove away to somewhere and my mom told me a few minutes beforehand to go plant my ass on the chair and stick my face into the computer.

Ironically, this is what I'm doing right now.

Help?

My dad didn't leave us, he just went for a drive or something - he does that most times when my mom gets totally unconsolable.

Sounds to me that your Dad is making the classic mistake a lot of husbands make (and that i've made myself on many occaisions). He needs to remember what his belt is for.

Of course your mother's behaviour is both wrong and insulting.

You use clearly defined paragraphs and are you being sarcastic?

I've neglected to mention that something like this would be horrible. It would be a total anti-help - everything in our family(Or what is left of it) would fall apart. My dad has cheated on my mom, and I think(Although I'm not sure) that she is still bitter about it, even three years on. And since my baby brother was born, she hasn't had much free time at all. In fact, she has had very little free time. Add to that the fact that my dad is the only one making money(Since my mom is taking care of my baby brother and my sisters) and that adds up to a very stressful atmosphere. It was a miracle my parents spent as much as they did on those boots. Problem is, it has been like this for the past year and a few months. The worst part is not being able to escape from it all.

After all, you can only hang out with your friends so much.

*sigh*

This is why I'm never going to have a family.

I just want your opinions, guys - Do you think this will blow over? I mean, there have been worse arguments in the past and stuff, but I don't know.

What? No, I am not. I dare not show my face downstairs for fear of what my mom will say next, really.

To tell you right here right now? I would do the same thing as you. Post it on totse. Because you know you feel comfortable about letting your disturbed, insane totse family to help you deal with it, well mostly to comment, though we do help eachother out; dont we?

Ok kid, here's the stone cold truth, the real deal. I would love to be wrong on this but i'd lay money i am not.

One of the following is going to happen, and probably soon:

1.Your parents will spilt up. It will nasty and the worst sort of divorce with you and any siblings caught right in the middle.

2.Your mom will start to deal with her problems and life will become good again. Unfortunately, from what you describe, that isn't very likely.

3.Your dad will 'man up'(ie put her over his knee) and get it right. Life will become real good.

4.Your dad will 'man up' and get it wrong...for result see 1.

Aside from death, nuclear armageddon or your mom becoming a born-again-christian, these are the only options.

That was my view for quite some time, too. However, things are looking up, so to speak. The arguments between ourselves are less frequent, and I don't know of any REAL financial difficulties we have(or maybe they're hiding it from me) - we just can't really afford extra, if you know what I mean. And now my mom is happy and my dad is back home and they're laughing about stuff, so maybe it isn't all that bad. I mean, at least I don't wake up to the sounds of their yelling matches at 4 am anymore.

Exactly. I know that I can pour out my grief and sorrow on here where I couldn't anywhere else, and this is, I daresay, the prime thing of totse and the internet in general.

Get a Huge Strap-on? They start acting up? You tell 'em to act their age or..., "You'll get a taste of this!

Is your ma getting enough Omega-3s in her diet? Do you know? Many women suffer post-partum depression because they've used their store of O-3s making junior's brain?

Thus leavin' their own poor wee brains chronically short? She eating enough deep sea fish?

That sucks, my mom used to have problems that sound alot the same (minus the cheating husband), but she ended up having some pretty nasty anxiety problems. If you can catch her at a sane moment, try getting her in to see a doctor about it. Im not sure if she can take anything for it with the baby, but at some point...

It does make a HUGE difference.

Good luck.

In your post, you imply that my mother is still pregnant - she isn't. Just in case. How did it turn out for your mom?

Moonmeister, thanks for the info. I'll make her make us more fish for meals, so that it isn't blatant what I'm trying to do. Sneaky sneaky. Can you suggest some kinds of fish?

Well the Wiki article http://tinyurl.com/u7jh7

Says salmon/herring/mackeral/anchovies/sardines & tuna do the trick. Some folks go for the flax seeds or nuts? you can also get O-3's in capsulses.

Though today I ate some reheated mashed potatoes with canned tuna scooped on top & as usual with fish...I feel better? I also know that as it's metabolized I'll feel it over the next 3 > 4 days?

I also get the 'Black Dog'? Where I know it's all the hopezorless? This leads to not eating or poor eatin' on a regular basis too. Also the not bothering to excercise?

Which is well known to be a pattern that leads to depressionzors...

That's why often I don't even care about eating or anything...negative thought patterns just become a viscious circle... So have some thympathy you ungrateful sniveling cur!

Whats wrong with giving your neighbors a gift?

Your mam is a cunt. Tell your dad to fucking man up and belt her, because his passive aggressive shit isn't going to fix diddly fuck.

Sorry tiger, there ain't much you can do.

I suggest taking those still useable boots out of the box, cleaning them up a little, and real kindly and not condesendingly offer them to your neighbors.

Also, what fucking pooro can afford a brown cleaning lady? I'm assuming she is brown because she can't clean properly.

It doesn't sound like he has a problem. It sounds like angst. His parents had an arguement and they're dealing with it.

There is nothing to be done on his part. You can lend an ear if your parents want to talk to someone; that's up to them, rather than you.

I admit, it may be angst. However, I always have been interested in the difference between angst and depression - how are they different? Of course, I could go look up some elitist psychological bullshit, but I want to hear from you guys.
