Behind the boat house
Default The Holidays

My boyfriend brought this up briefly saying

"We shouldn't pretend like this isn't something looming over us." before the subject got changed. Niether of us really wanted to talk about it afterall...

During the holidays you're pressured to spend these times with your significant other but then you're also pressured to spend it with your family, which puts your significant other and your family within very close proximity to each other for a good time being. It's stressfull. Niether my boyfriend nor I am very comfortable with the whole meeting of the family process and the concept of him coming over for Thanksgiving... well, I don't know who's more uncomfortable with it - him or I!

Still it's hanging over us and everyone else like a dark cloud. How is everyone else handling the holidays (or just Thanksgiving) with their significant other?

Cheers,

Lost

Canadian Thanksgiving already happenned. I was in a wicked car crash while visiting family out of town. It wasn't a bad Thanksgiving, but not the least stressful.

I don't enjoy significant others meeting my family; it's never a pleasent event on my part.

I'm in Australia, we don't even have Thanksgiving.

But on the whole partner meeting family thing, if my girl isn't strong enough to deal with my family, then I've obviously made the wrong choice with her. My (extended) family are loud and fast. If you can't keep up with them then you're left way behind in the dust, so to speak.
