i'm a freshman in college, and i decided to join a frat. i like most of the guys in it, particularly in my pledge class (which is wat counts most really), but i wouldn't say i've warmed up to them real well yet (nor have they me). This is usually how i am, and i'm not sure why, but it takes me longer than most people. i'm the somewhat overwhelmed kid they talk about in articles about "getting ready for college". i'm only about 45 minutes home, and i take more opportunities than most of the guys to go home and hang out w/some friends who are at the community college, etc.

so i still party with everyone, but i guess you could say i'm not fully integrated with most people. maybe i just don't notice other people, but it seems like everyone else is getting to know and make regular friends with girls from the sororities that we have events and stuff with. i know some people, and still talk and stuff, but they don't usually end up as more than aquantances.

what do you guys think of this? whenever i get high on a friday night or something, i notice i do WAY better at conversing with people, like just semi-small talk. i do a lot better then with girls than i do with guys (in my house). i've had girlfriends before, and during senior yr in HS i was doing fine at meeting people and stuff. is this just me getting over mild homesickness and adjusting to and getting comfortable with a new place, and something i shouldn't worry to much about?

Dude, don't worry about it. Those frat dues that your parents are paying, where do you think that money goes man? That guarantees that your fratbrothers will atleast act like they're your friends. And with the leftover cash, they'll buy enough junglejuice fixin's to get some tramped-out freshie to have awkward,drunken, borderline-non-consentual sex with you.
