My Girlfriend is Religious...
... and she is grounded... Her mom is forcing her to go to this one _tag (youthgroup) thing and she wants me to go with her. It would be one of the few chances of hanging out outside of school for the next few weeks.
The only problem is that I am not religious at all. I really don't believe in a god or God or whatever. I also believe that a bunch of thing happen that I can not explain. I do believe that there is a god and that he "does" wonderful stuff. I also believe that there was Jesus, but he was just a kind and wise man. Just past things in my life have led me to believe what I believe.
I know the basis of everything and all that jazz but I was wondering... Should I go to this _tag thing. There is a sermon and worship and everything like that. But should I, even if it's just for my girlfriend. If I go there and pronounce that I am not a christian, I am guessing that youth pastors and more people will be like, "He's not worth it because his life is empty and without God." and all that bull shit.
TOTSE Please help!

Your main problem is that youre an idiot.
Secondly just go there to support your girlfriend. You dont have to where a pentagram and proclaim how theyre all idiots because they have beliefs.
Just smile and nod boy. Smile and nod.

Re: My Girlfriend is Religious...
Just go man. I went to a Catholic school for 4 years, and I'm completely agnostic and against religion as an art. 2 weeks (?) will be a highly annoying piss in the park.
Just don't say anything and be very polite. Keep any thoughts you have to your girlfriend. She'll appreciate it, more than you think.

Re: My Girlfriend is Religious...
my ex was a highly religious catholic - mass every sunday, altar server, rosary...never got in the way in particular, in fact it got me asking a few questions regarding belief that you can't answer without going to a mass.
Still...I've never seen the push for Church or holy active groups...so long as you believe surely thats enough.

Re: My Girlfriend is Religious...
my boyfriend, who is an athiest, was with a religous girl before he met me. on top of those religous outings to camps and whatnot she actually made him go to church with her. he hated it so much, but he did it to make her happy and shut her trap. so, i think you should go. they dont spend the whole time praying, so you will be okay. you will get to see her and it will make her happy. win win.

Agreed, dumbest thread I've seen in a while, and I just came from SG.
And don't double post, piece of shit.

Re: My Girlfriend is Religious...
pffft... just go. If you get bored, ask them questions they can't answer, like "If God is omnipotent, could he create a rock that was so heavy even he couldn't lift it?" or "How did the serpent get about before God forced it to slither on its belly?"
You could also put Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel on repeat.
Of course this might lead to everyone there hating you, but at least you'll be entertained.

Re: My Girlfriend is Religious...
Just go, it'll keep her happy. Things like that are uber lame, but if you're not to judgemental, you can probably have a bit of fun.
I have a friend who's boyfriend is a Jo-ho. She goes to this conference with him every year. And then she'll tell me all the funny things that happen because Jo-hos are crazy mofos...hahahaha! Her and her boyfriend draw dirty pictures for each other when they get bored.

Re: My Girlfriend is Religious...
Depends on how much you are for the bitch. What benifit willl you recive for going there. But being catholic myself i'd have to say that you shouldn't go unless you truly want too.
Anything else will be a waste of time.

It never says in the Bible but many people believe the serpent had legs. Like a caterpillar, I guess.
I say go. Even if you don't believe in God. It's never a bad thing to learn about the way other people believe. Who knows, maybe it will make you question the way you believe. If not, that's cool. At least you saw your gf and made her happy.

You, my dear man, are stupid. Just to let you know, if you read the Bible without the inclination that Jesus was the incarnation of God, He would come across as a raving lunatic. Therefore, you cannot believe he was kind and wise, but not God. Anyways, just go to it, and smile and nod, and who knows! maybe you will learn something. Why was this such a difficult decision?
EDIT: You are a young and inexperienced fuck anyways. What does a phrase like "Just past things in my life have led me to believe what I believe" mean? Is that supposed to sound intelligent and well articulated? Because it didn't...
