Default Need advice. Friendship and a Friends Friends..

Well, Heres the situation...

Theres two girls; Girl A and Girl B. (Well, theres more but these are the only ones in this situation.)

Girl A has a boyfriend. She has another boy who she is involved with and generally really popular with the lads. A nice girl, and not at all slutty. (Yeah, Shes sticking beside her boyfriend, despite this second boy becoming a issue) We're best*friends*, But she has blown her boyfriend of to see me before. Generally we share EVERYTHING, and she has asked me to attend a disco with her... -| Really cool girl, REALLY attached to her.

Girl B is relatively new in my life. Very quiet - Much like myself. Pretty, got lads after her. But she always seems to try and initiate conversations with me, always seems friendly, always smiling at me... just a nice girl. Really like this girl, once again - quite attached to her.

Now girl A + B where best friends. I told girl A how I liked girl B and she immediately started trying to put me off of her - shes done this with girls in the past. "She's a slut", "She's freaky", "She is a greedy little whore", "She is fucking weird"... Anything you can imagine. Now remember they where best friends...

Then Girl A rang me up and just dropped that girl B wanted to take me to the cinema! I took this with a pinch of salt and just changed the subject. As I felt she was prodding for my reaction. Then shes mentioned a few times how Girl B "likes" me.. Now I'm starting to believe her.

But, As soon as this happens there friendship breaks. Turns out Girl B turned all of A's friends away from her... atleast that what A told me. Yet, trying to turn me off of B even MORE. She is really making offensive comments about B at every oppurtunity when shes around me. I can only think shes trying to turn me off of her...

Then I spent about 15 minutes with B and had this text message convo with A:

A "I take it you dont like me anymore"

Me: "Why?"

A "Its B the backstabber you like... init?"

Me: "I have no idea whats going on... But keep me out of it."

Then we had a really friendly, funny phone chat... everything was normal. (Apart from the insults directed at B) Turns out shes scared that B is going to take me away from her! I said "No one will ever take me away from you. I'd pick you over anyone, anyday." and she seemed relieved, but still worried. Then she says "Why B? I mean theres nicer girls.. AKA Me.", What was the point of putting that in? Shes got a boyfriend, one in the queue and a list of admirers - without dragging me into it.

Despite this she gave me B's MSN freely... as long as I dont let on where I got it from.

I really really like B. But Im getting so much shit, from my best friend that I am starting to believe it. I never thought I'd believe it but shes saying all sorts of stuff and now telling it to my friends... Its really start to piss me the fuck off. Like I was even told "If she didnt get sex off of her ex she used to mental - do you want that?" - Of course I dismissed it with a joke. Then about how shes greedy.

It just appears shes trying to stop anything before it even starts.

Now heres question one: Why would A act like this? We get on BRILLIANTLY. We share everything with eachother. But she still thinks I'm going to be "brutally stolen" by B and that I'm just going to let it happen.

Now onto B.

Lovely girl, Pretty (Of course shes fugly according to A), Nice figure (Flat chested and as fat as a hippo - A) and nice peronality (A greedy little whore - A). Quiet and Shy like myself. (But manipulative - A)

Now, according to A shes interested. And Why would A say that, if shes intent on stopping it before it begins? It *must* be true then... right? But then I look at all the other shit being said and wonder...

A is getting really agressive towards B aswell. Telling me what she wants to do... and it, if anything is turning me away from A if anyone.

So heres question two: What should I think of B? I have always seen her as nice, respectable and damn hawt. But thats the opposite of the true her... according to A. I always judge people on what I see, not word of mouth - so why should I change that?

I have low self-esteem which clouds my judgement even more... Why would B like me? Why would anyone like me? Why is A even my friend? (Despite recently getting alot more interest from the opposite sex - I still feel low as shit.) So this makes me a bit vulnerable to the lies I suppose.

Now, Onto my last and final question!

Should I try and give it a go with B, How should I approach her? Shes still shy to me and we only speak little small talk - but *apparently* she likes me... I would love to give it a go. Any tips? Any Do's and Don'ts? How do you think the A situation could mess up any chance with B? Any advice at all?

So in summary;

a)Why would A react so badly?

b)What should I think of B? Am I right to dismiss A's claims?

c)Any advice or tips on getting with B? At all?

After reading that all, I would come to the conclusion that...

Be friends with both. But nothing more. It seems way to complicated. And the girls are just being immature and playing mind games. But thats just my £0.02.

Yeah. I know A is playing mindgames, but I think she really is concerned with B taking me away - which I wont let happen, simple as.

B on the other had, hasn't done anything to lead me to believe shes playing games. :\

I think (unfortunately) that pretty much sums it up. Any romantic relationship you'd have with B is more than likely going to jeopardize your friendship with A.

I guess you'd just have to decide if you can either talk some sense into A or if B is worth losing a friendship for.

True, but if you pursued a relationship with B then A would try and play games to get all the attention from you. So I think for your overall benifit it would be wise to go after neither, as it seems a package deal of both girls, with lots of emotional trouble.

What a bunch of B.S, just go out with Girl B, and say to Girl A: Look you have a boyfriend, so don't try to control my life, string your BF instead.

Fuck that shit! Just lay out your cards and do what you are gonna do.

Im might just ignore what she says about Girl B. Still be a friend, just one with selective hearing.

She likes the attention you give her. But once you get a girl, the attention you give to her, in theory at least, should decrease. And she fears this.

It is also quite possible that her relationship with her bf is pretty shit if she looks for a lot of attention elsewhere.

Everytime I end up going out with her and her bf arguments happen, which are pretty extreme. To the point of her crying, telling her bf to fuck off and just telling me "I think I should end it with him".

Hes a nice guy, but she keeps saying "It wont last long".

Sounds like A is the selfish one.

She probably doesn't really like you, but she doesn't want you to be taken so you can be a "back up."

She sounds immature. Have a go at B, if A really cares about you she won't ditch you.

Yeah, This makes sense. It pisses me off though, It means I can't do anything with anyone, because she *may* need a back-up? Selfish bitch. BUT - she has backups, she has more guys after her then most girls.

Im gonna give B a try anyway - I've decided. Im still gonna try and keep it sweet with A though.

Oh, and the Disco she wants me to attend with her? I just thought, B will be there... hence her sudden wanting me to attend with her.
