AIDS and Condom Failure
Let's say you're having vaginal intercourse with a woman with AIDS, and you're using a condom. What happens if the condom breaks and you immediately withdraw, but there was contact? What are the chances that you'll be infected and what should you do in this situation?

Re: AIDS and Condom Failure
Pretty small. Risk of HIV transmission from an infected woman to a man is much lower than that from an infected man to a woman and the contact would be minimal. But it's still not a good situation... hypothetical, I hope?

Re: AIDS and Condom Failure
It is hypothetical, just having a chat with my friend who is a bit shy of sex because of condom failure and STDs. Apart from STDs that are catchable while using condoms, what diseases would be very catchable in a situation like this in which the condom breaks?

Re: AIDS and Condom Failure
Even if you use a condom, skin contact STDs like herpes and HPV can still be transmitted, because they often spread around the entire genital region, including parts not protected by the condom. Both of which are viruses, herpes you have forever but is controllable with medicine, HPV you can build up immunities for and eliminate the active virus from your system like when you get a string of the cold or flu.
If the condom breaks you're subject to gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and hepatitis... all of which are very uncommon, and all but hepatitis are curable, hepatitis being treatable.
The best ways to avoid them are to use condoms (apart from abstinence, obviously) and to have sex only in monogamous relationships where both partners have been tested. Get tested at least once a year, whether or not you are in a monogamous relationship.

Pregnancy! But even that, left untreated, goes away in about nine months.

Re: AIDS and Condom Failure
The HIV/AIDS virus is small enough to fit through the the pores in the condom. A condom decreases your chances of contracting the disease, but not by much...

Re: AIDS and Condom Failure
Actually I talked to a doctor about STD's and Condoms. And he said that the only STD that condoms really protect aginst is HIV, it protects about 95% of the time. Other STD's can only be protected aginst about <20% of the time. I also stated that if the guy uses a condom and the girl uses the pill (correctly), there is like a 1/10000000 chance of getting the girlo pregnant, and he told me I was right.
P.S. You can't get AIDS from sex. Only HIV which leads to AIDS. But you don't always get AIDS if you get HIV.

Are you fucking retarded? It's not like it's tattooed on their forehead. Most people who contract HIV didn't know their partner had it, because that person didn't know they had it either. Or, they could lie about it.
