Would you give out a fake number?
Edit: short version at bottom.
So I met this boy tonight at a party.
Originally I'd planned to leave, because it was a bunch of people from my work... but my friends and I stuck around and it ended up being fun.
And then I saw this boy. He looked sort of lonely, he didn't know too many people there and his friends were too drunk to carry on a conversation. They were, as dear Dane Cook *vomit* would say, "failing."
So we started talking. He taught me some russian, and then everybody started speaking french. Then it turned into freedom fries vs. french fries. And he said "well... I know a little bit about french kissing" and I said "oh well you might have to teach me."
So, eventually, he did teach me. And I quite enjoyed it. But it didn't go any farther than that. He was going to come to the hookah bar with us, but his friend was too drunk to even walk, or even recognize her friends. So he and his other friends had to take her home.
So he gave me his number, and I said I'd call his to give him mine. He said something about using the same phone as him mom or something, so if I call I might reach her. I did, and it said "you have reached a non working number from sky bank" or something. I said it didn't work, so he repeated it. Then he realized his phone was off, and neither of us could get it to turn on, so he wrote my number on his hand then had to attend to his drunk friend.
So I was sort of curious... why was it a non working bank number? Or maybe I was drunk and misunderstood, or maybe his mom works for a company that provides cell phones for employees? I don't even know. If I don't want to talk to somebody, I might give them my number then just never answer my phone, or mysteriously become busy when they called.
I mean, I don't expect anything to come out of this, but he seemed cool and I'd like to hang out with him again, and perhaps continue those lessons so that would just be too bad. And if he'd just wanted to hook up and never speak again... he had plenty of opportunities, and he was well aware of that. So, my dear totseians, would you ever give a fake number?
Edit: Wow, I realized I put a whole lot in there that had nothing to do with anything, so here's the short version... I met a boy, and we made out. Then when we exchanged numbers and his was a non working bank number, but he shares a phone with his mom so that might be why. Then we realized his phone was dead and wouldn't turn on. Sketchy? Fake number, you think?

I've had to on a number of occasions, and though it feels awkward, they'll never know until you're fsr far away...

From what you've said, I doubt it's a fake number. He went to a lot of trouble, you know.

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
Yeah. When I used to go to parties I'd sometimes give girls the rejection line's number. I don't know if they ever called it, my excuse sucked balls "I just got this phone and don't know the number off by heart" then I'd have to look up 'my own' number in my phone.
Did he know his number off by heart? Was he able to recite the same number twice, easily?
Then it's probably his real number. If not... .

He repeated the last four digits twice. And he knew it by heart, yeah. Ehh, I don't even knowww but tonight was super fun. Best part about it, is the kissing wasn't the highlight of my evening. That party definitely delivered.

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
Well, he seems like the semi-responsible type of person and seems to be generally interested because he's repeated numbers and tried to double check that it works. So, I dont think that he set out to do this on purpose. I think we're pretty much alike, over thinking situations. I do it all the time, up to a stage I get myself upset wondering "WTF".
I personally wouldn't give out a fake number, unless I wasn't interested, but I would make sure signs that i'm not interested, but i'd give em' my friends number

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
I've had to give out a fake once, for fear of getting raped at the bus stop. These 2 creepy asian guys cornered me and wanted me to "show them around town." It was traumatic. I gave them a fake number then pretended to see my boyfriend and ran away. Goddamn did he ever get shit for being late that day. Blah, high school relationships were crap.

Two asian men vs a girl?
Sounds like a fair fight to me.

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
I've given out fake numbers many times, but I doubt that was his intention.
I often don't like people having my phone number. I'll give it out with one number different or not at all. Doesn't mean I don't want to talk to them, just that I don't enjoy 3am phone calls.

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
I think... perhaps I thought about that wayyy too much.
And maybe I was still a teensy bit drunk?
But that boy... let me tell you, he was so cute. It would be quite a shame if I never saw him again.

No offense, but it doesn't sound like it would have gone too well in the long run. You made out with some guy you barely knew.

If I don't want to give someone my number, I always give out 382.5633 - it spells "fuck off" in phone keys.

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
Yes, I used to do this. But, only to annoying/ugly girls.
I used to have the number of a hairdresser in Boston who's voice machine said something along the lines of "if someone gave you this number, they probably found you to boring or unattractive to date and don't want to talk to you".
Looking back, this was a totally dick move on my part, but whatever. No regrets.

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
Back in the days when yoyobek was young and free and stupid, I'm sure I met many guys and gave them many deceptive numbers.
After a while, it gets boring to get a phone call the next day along the lines of
random guy: 'hello?'
yoyo: '..hello?'
random guy: 'hi, i met you last night. you're Michelle, right?'
yoyo: *hangs up*

Re: Would you give out a fake number?
I give out a fake number to pretty much all girls once I sleep with them, its almost regular now. Once the challenge is over it isn't all that fun anymore to have them call me the next day and want a relationship.
