Default Those days where you get home and just wished you did it all different

Seems like every day I do this. I get home from college classes and I dwell on all the shit I would have done different. Be it when a teacher called on me, what I should/shouldn't have said in discussion groups, wishing I talked more to the girl in front of me. I just never seem satisfied with my day, no matter how it went, and even tho the whole day I'm trying to do eveything as perfect as I want to, I still have regrets I think about as soon as I get out of class and start walking to my car.

And this shit puts me in a bad mood and ruins my whole night too. Anyone else feel me on this?

Everyone has that thought. Rememeber, no day is perfect, and there is always room for perfection. You're not the only one, we all feel you my man.

Start doing drugs or kill yourself now.

Only 2 options.

I strive for perfection in all things, but I have learned to be content if things at least didn't go badly. If it's not a step backward, it's usually a step forward... or such has been my experience.

That's been about the last 4.5 years if my life, seriously. Not small things either, I seem to have put everything in my life down the shitter in snowball fashion. :

That happens to me to, it's just because im so absent minded. I started writing things on my wrist that I mean to accomplish through the day. Like there was this girl in one of my classes I get a long with really well and talk to but I ALWAYS forget to ask for her email so I wrote that on my wrist, and to go get a haircut and go out to the mall and buy some stuff.... It really works you just gotta take like a week getting used to checking your wrist.

NOTE: Don't use your palm it washes off and the back of your hand is too noticeable, the part of the wrist you would slit if you were emo is best.

I wish that so hard sometimes I contemplate jumping in front of city busses.

Don't dwell on it dude. It WILL drive you slowly mad.

Yeah, I fucked up yesterday night... Should've asked for her phone number even though she has a boyfriend.

That way I could at least keep in touch until that relationship fell. But, I fucked myself.

But meh.

Only thing that's been bothering me lately is it seems that 90% of the girls already have boyfriends... what's with that? These girls are 18-20 and already trying to settle down. Have some fun, don't settle down with the person you "fell in love with" in highschool.

Don't mean to sound harsh but it seems somebody needs to say.

Pull your head out of your ass, and do what you want to do. Don't be afraid to be yourself, or you're going to get worse at feeling shitty.

I used to be the same, then I woke up one day thinking "Right, I'm going to do this and that, I won't know unless I try" and I try to keep that same saying for everything. I feel a lot better about myself now.

I never dwell on things and never have a moan at someone if I'm in a bad mood. It shows good character and will help revolve happiness about your life.

That's not good character. That's called bottling. And it's going to come back to bite you in the ass one day. "Revolve happiness about your life," you better be British...

I read that there were studies showing that people will regret instances of inaction more than actions when they remember them in the future. You can better justify regretable actions to yourself that you have taken than regretable inaction.

Duh, of course if someone pisses you off you have a go back at them.

I meant in the sense that if someone has put you in a bad mood, no need to take it out on anyone else.

You don't know. Nobody does. Instead of fretting over consequences in the future, and how the past could have been better: GET ON WITH LIFE.

No, bottling is when you DO dwell on things and still don't do shit about it.

I appreciate what you guys are saying, but even when I do say something I meant to say and thought was really awesome at the time, I can always think up something I consider "better" later on. Or if it was something I missed at the time, like a certain comment or look from someone that had some significance I didn't pick up on at the time, it'll eat at me. Then it's like I can't wait for the next day/class to come so I can start things over and do em right. But of course, by the time I wake up I'm in a whole new train of thought.

I hate thinking that if only I feel happy, then I'll be fulfilling my life. I just can't feel fulfilled ans satisfied unless I do shit perfect and I'm doin it better than everybody else. You guys are right tho; it's really hard not to dwell on shit, but it's something I need to get better at, and I feel sometimes that by dwelling on shit, I'll be more prepared to do things better the next time. And that way, I'll eventually reach perfection.

Look man, there is no better, there is no worse, there is no perfection. Life isn't about expectations...expectations are the human's attempt to predict and control the world, which is well beyond any of our control. In order for perfection to exist, you would have to effectively control every last action and reaction in the entire universe...are you a god?

generally, on those days, i remind myself that there's always tomorrow.

i actually use that feeling to my advantage. when i'm in a situation, usually revolving around a female, i say to myself, "how can I make sure i don't regret all of this later?" it's been working well recently

Wise words, I'll have to reflect on that shit. Thanks for the input.
