Default Have you ever liked someone but NOT wanted them to know?

Ummm I dunno how to explain it exactly. I guess if someone has been like this they'll know what I'm talking about.

Thing is I have liked this girl for ages and really don't know what it is but I even get frightened?? That she'll work out I'm secretly liking her. I'm not stalking her or anything like that and I put it down to knowing if she knew I'd be rejected and things would go strange between us.

If she found out I envision her questioning me as to why I do like her without her being interested in a 'us' but wanting to know and that would be really difficult to deal with.

Yeah, I get you.

You've got a friendship, but you're afraid that if you reveal her as the object of your desire, it'll ruin both.

I look at it this way when faced with these problems;

It's not a good friendship anyway because you're lusting over her. So you might as well go 'all in' and try to be with her.

At the best, you're with the girl and you get along well.

At worst you end a shitty friendship, get rid of a bitch and force yourself to move on.

OP, you're in an unhealthy situation. You might get over it, or it could eat you alive. Think about it this way: Which is worse? Her finding out you like her, or her fucking someone else? Armed with the answer to that question, it's time to formulate a plan to tell her how you feel.

I find that in situations like this, the feelings are often reciprocated. Just do not put your emotional health at stake, it's not worth mental breakdown.

Everybody here is so stuck on the "Just tell her" culture. I mean what do you have to lose? But it's never as simple as that and you know it Cathartic.

There’s a girl I'd love to be with, but I never will because real life isn't like TV. The popular hot girl is not harboring a secret love for me. No matter how much I grandiose those few times she glances my way.

So why don't I ask her out? Because she'd say no. Because it would inconvenience and embarrass me for everybody to know how I really feel about her. And because it would give her and her contemporaries a power of me I don't want them to have.

But on a final note. There's two weeks to go before I finish year twelve and then I'll join the army for the lax of any solid aspirations or dreams.

And then I'll never see her again. So right before I leave, never to lay eyes on her again, I'm going to tell her that I wanted to ask her to dance during the slow bit of the formal.

And that I wish I hadn't lacked the balls to do so.

(And yes, I realise the contradiction in this. But I never claimed things were black & white.)

I know. But I have no other outlet for my emotions. And the anonymity helps.

Default Re: Have you ever liked someone but NOT wanted them to know?

whenever i get nervous or shy about something lately ive been trying to get over it, cuz i think itd b better for my personality overall

so like i was nervous about calling a place for a job interview, i kept putting it off

ill just wait a half hour, maybe just 10 more minutes, ok after this show ill call, maybe its too early

so then finally i said enough

i picked up the phone, and still was trting not to

so i dialed the number so fast i couldnt even think and then by the time i started to get nervous, it was too late cuz the phone was ringing

see if she finds out dont deny it, go with it

if u rly like her that much you should let her know, and i know easier said than done, but many ppl hav told me this and i have come to the conclusion that once they know it gets so much better

if u r too scared to let her know, maybe u dont rly like her enough

love is a free wonderful thing that should be let loose in the air for everybody to know

and besides, once she knows and she likes u too, youll b too happy to worry

anyway, thats my 5 cents about it

I had a female friend, who Ive now fell out of contact with. She was absolutely amazing... all my male friends were in awe any time they saw her.

We were only ever friends, and quite close. I was in a commited relationship at the time and had met her through my significant other, which is probably why I wasn't lusting after her like my peers.

She told me that she found it so hard to find a boyfriend, and most of the guys who had the balls to come onto her were fuckin assholes, although sometimes it could take a while to find out.

Ive always thought that getting shot down and getting drunk and forgetting about it is a lot better than getting drunk, wondering...

Jeez just tell her.

I secretly wish my male friends I have crushes on would tell me they like me or something :-P!

And if it was a male friend I didn't like, I'd give him a week or two of space to move on, and we'd be back to same old, it's happened.

Just tell her! she could be waiting for you to make the move.
