Maybe, I was too jumpy. I apologize for that. If you go to a doctor, there are simple medications they can perscribe to you to keep the virus at bay.

Don't try to think of it as a life changing thing. You're still who you are, and that's what's important. Try to learn from this experience. It's just a small mistake, one of many you'll make in your life, just like everyone else.

OP: I can't pretend I know exactly what you're going through...and I know this suggestion isn't going to be something you like.

Treat it as you would any permanent condition - accept it, be open about it with prospective partners (it's not fair to let someone get attached to your personality to spring a disease on them and force them into a decision that is now tough to make). I'm not saying to shout at the mountaintops that you've got herpes...but atleast let them know within a week or two of starting to date...it's going to suck that most people will leave you behind due to that...but even with herpes or other viral STDs, love can be found.
