My girlfriend of over a year just broke up with me, it was unexpected. We had being going through a rough patch and I wanted to work through it all but she was over it.

I don't want to break up with her, she was the most amazing person I've ever met. But if she is going to be happier single, then I guess I owe her that.

I'm so messed up now, I hope I did the right thing by her and we have said we will talk, but we will see how hollow those words are in the next few months I suppose.

Much agreement here with Hippie Hunter. Its the best thing you can do. So many people will tell you otherwise, but then again, they aren't going through what you are at the moment.

Don't go on some binge but just do some thinking. Read a book you never got around to or something to that effect. Take your mind off of it, and in the end you'll come out, if not feeling better, wiser.

When i broke up with my gf of close to 2 years, we didn't talk for 6 weeks... then we started talking again and we seem to talk fine
