Attractiveness = Personality
Lately something has been happening, and I don't know if its a good or bad thing.
I've always been pansexual, but able to appreciate physical attractiveness as a major part of relationships. However, in the past few months i'm finding that inborn physical attractiveness (not controllable parts like bathing, clothes, shaving etc) doesn't matter to me at all.
I actually get turned on by the personality of the person, fullstop, and their inborn physical attractiveness means nothing to me. It's like in that fucking movie Shallow Hal or something. The thing is i'm an attractive guy, so its not a way of lowering my standards to fit with how ugly I am or anything.
Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? Is there any term for it?

Enjoy it for the next 24 hours, because it is a well-documented fact that men die the day after they grow up.

You're so noble.
I'd like to see pictures of the ugliest girl you've dated/had sex with. We'll see how much they matter.

Re: Attractiveness = Personality
I'm female and I don't know if that makes a bit of difference, but I'm slightly the same way.
I can find someone others would immediately dub as unattractive in every way, but if they have the slightest sense of humour, or they're intelligent, thoughtful, etc... They automatically are sexy in my book.
It works the other way too. Take someone who would be the stereotypical hot, hunky, sexy male. If he acts like an arrogant asshole, his physical appearance drastically changes in my eyes and though others may see him as gorgeous, he'd look like nothing but an ape to me.
The guy I'm with now, at first glance I will admit I didn't think he was great looking. After getting to know him, however, and seeing his personality and his good heart, his sense of humour - He looks better to me than a million Brad Pitts.
I don't know if that's the same as what you're talking about but I think it's similiar.

Re: Attractiveness = Personality
There's nothing wrong with that, you're just being less shallow than you were previously. I'm like that too, I can think a guy is ugly at first glance, but if he has a wicked personality, he'll transform into a sex god in my eyes.
I've always found my boyfriend physically attractive, but once I got to know his real personality it drove me insane with desire, lol.

What she said, and the opposite happens the same with me.
If a guy's hot, but he's an idiot/boring/annoying/clingy etc, he becomes really ugly very quickly.

Re: Attractiveness = Personality
Congrats on reaching level 2 in the videogame called life...the rules change a bit. Now that you care about personality more than appearance, you'll find that your shallow friends seem like bigger assholes than previously. No worries, they'll reach level 2 also when they beat the boss of level 1...boy, that Faux Machismo sure is a tough son of a bitch. It's pretty hard to dodge his special attack: Questioned Manhood.

Yeah, me too. I can make exceptions for the unbelievably attractive though. But that's only if I want sex.

Re: Attractiveness = Personality
I've heard alot of people say that they thought personality was more important then looks, but, to be honest, I have no problem admitting looks are very important. I see it as simple as looking for a healthy female and I'm not saying people cannot be attracted to personality and maybe, in cases, more so then looks, but I don't belive that is the case for the majority of people.

it's not a problem at all. i am the exact same way. i remember that the moment i realized this fact, i was very pleased with myself. it's gratifying to know you're not a shallow bastard.

Re: Attractiveness = Personality
Hmm I have a problem with falling for girls where I love their personality, but they don't do enough for me physically. It fucking sucks.

Re: Attractiveness = Personality
What i say is: Personality is what really counts in a relationship - Looks are extra points!
Now all i look for is personality. though every now and then, I do look at attractivness. I cant really change the way I look at women, since most of the women I like do have a personality that I can attach to and do look "beautiful" (i put beautiful in "" since everyone has their own definitions of the word).
