I am as of yet undecided about whether these should be used. Don't get me wrong, I by no mean think they should be illegal, it is up to the woman, but it really doesn't seem too smart of an idea. Perhaps if you tipped the barbs with an extremely potent poison or sedative so you have a chance to get away, but that would almost certainly be illegal.

I could also see men inserting other things before their actual dick to test for these, like they mentioned in the article, and if they find one, they would probably be especially harsh to the victim. This whole idea doesn't really apply to America, as we have much fewer rapes than South Africa and it is generally a friend or relative of the victim that does it, not random gang rapes or strangers doing it.

This is being marketed in South Africa, not the USA or a Commonwealth country. They have huge numbers of rapes all the time in South Africa, I think many women there would do this to protect themselves.

As Random Looney often says in W&C, this just won't work. What is enough sedative to knock someone out is enough to kill someone else and have no effect on yet another. Drugs affect people differently. This is why anesthesiologists get paid so much.

Polygraphs are so shittily unreliable it isn't even funny. Also, lots of people react differently to polygraphs, and more importantly, you can train yourself to pass a polygraph with some dedication.

Cloaked Dagger made the only good point: Guns make everyone equal regardless of gender, weight, height, whatever...bullet to the head kills anyone, and anywhere else would likely debilitate with either pain or fucked up organs/bones.

Yes but they get thrown in jail for MURDER or assult or what not. Yeah sure.. Gang rapes are very common too. But in the case of single men raping a woman, this has potential. And even with a gang rape, by the time the other's had figured out anything was wrong, she could've at least made and effort to run for it.
